It's been a good year or two since the big high-rise gold rush. Dozens if not a hundred high-rise condo/hotel casino plans were announced to be built. Before ground was ever broken, make-shift sales offices started collecting money from investors and buyers. I myself attended several "promotional" meetings where food and drinks were served and reps would brag on and on about their newest ventures. Sadly, many of these high-rise projects went belly up, (some even before the ground was broke). Some buyers had trouble getting their deposits back and the lawsuits began to fly. I would guess that most of the projects lost their backers because of poor money management or just plain bad management. The last meeting I attended was for the Ivana Trump tower. I must say I was very surprised to see her project get stopped. I heard that she ran out of $$$!! I bet Donald had a big grin on his face. I'm currently looking for "up to the minute" info on high-rise projects for some of my investor clients. If any of you Vegas agents know of a site that’s keeping track of this please let me know. If I find one first I'll be sure and post it.
