It seems like this is what our political system has come down to. I love a good political debate and noone has ever accused me of being shy when it comes to my belief's. I have come to the popint in my life where I vote Pro-Life , nocompromise, everything else to me is seconday. I will vote for the person who takes a stand for the pre-born. Putting that side for the purposes of this post I am disgusted by the complete lack of integrity by our elected official. It has gotten to the popint where our officials would rather be thought incompetent than to face the cameras and tell the truth.

I happen to believe it would have been wrong to not pay the AIG bonuses that were already contracted for. My reasons and those of others have been stated on other posts. My problem is that when the bill was written so did most of our officials, but now one negative news story nad they are all running for cover.Just as an example, Chris Dodd would rather have us believe that he was so incompetant as to either not know about or not agree to his own ammendment that face the cameras and tell us why the ammendment was added.

I do not believe for a second that the congressmen who said the AIG officials should commit suicide did not really think that.

The problem is that we accept it. If I point out that President Obama broke his campaign promise about earmarks the only response I am likely to get is someone pointing out a campaign promise President Bush broke, which will be followed by a campaign promise President Clinton broke, which will be followed by a campaign promise President Bush Sr. broke and then everyone likes to pile on President Carter. How about for a change say goodbye to past accusations and hold the current President to the fire. Or how about <heaven forbid the current president , no matter who it is just come out and tewll us " I know I promised  _____ in the campaign , but at the time I was not aware of thingsd i am aware of now and I need to break that promise.

We might actually get a president we cpuld respect.

How about when one side catches the otherside doing something blatantly wrong, the side of the guilty party hold that person accountable, I think that would really further the cause of that party.

We as a nation have gotten to the point that we accept the fact that our elected officials, cheat on their taxes, on their wives, lie to their constituents, their staff,s their families, and even under oath and WE ARE ONLY OUTRAGED IF IT IS THE OTHER PARTY.

I'M SORRY BUT WE HAVE THE GOVERNMENT WE DESERVE

We really need term limits on all federally elected politicians.  So many of these people are so horrible it is just plain ridiculous, yet you can't get them out of office because good people won't dare run against them.

I am very sad to see the directions that are being taken but I can't argue with "I'M SORRY BUT WE HAVE THE GOVERNMENT WE DESERVE".  I still for the most part believe in the American people ; just not our public officials.  What amazes me is how many can lend a blind eye.  I still can't believe my sister in law did not vote for life.

The sad fact of the matter is that we have been laying down and taking anything that Government throws our way for some time now. I don't like it at all to be honest, but then I'm sure you already knew that. The amazing thing is that the vast majority of people have made an all too comfortable habit out of complaining and doing little or nothing to change what they are complaining about.

Hugh - I don't know why, but I am still amazed at the response "Well, they did it too". It is immature and unprofessional. And it's a load of crap. America is getting what it voted for, at least 52% of it, that is.

I'm with you.  Pro-life first, and everything else is secondary.  If a candidate doesn't respect the least of us, how can they respect any of us?

We have become apathetic to the government, and given them too much power.  We've let them walk all over the Constitution and we wonder why the country is in the state it is in now?  It's pitiful.

The day I heard Nancy Pelosi say, "because we won."  regarding the passage of the stimulus bill, I realized we were dealing with children in control of the White House.

Hugh-

Well said, I vote pro life first (even voted for a local democrat 1 time) My political mentor Greg Guttfeld says we should raise the voting age to 35.  I agree :)

Hugh,

You are so right about many things in this post! The present political climate has made me a believer in term limits...and no pensions after one or two terms...!!!

Also, both sides, instead of fostering a spirit of cooperation to solve problems, have openly admitted (Rahm Emmanuel) they would rather see how much political clout they can obtain over crisis situations...

We have given our elected officials the power over life and death for our nation, and like many pro abortionists, they're choosing death!!! The culture of death in our society must be corrected and placed on the proper course...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

Hugh, and watch out for the 90% tax. If they get away with this unconstitutional measure then other groups will be singled out and be punitively taxed. I've never made that much money, but I don't begrudge those that do.

Hugh- Nice post. We are split up pretty good as a country so they can gain power.

Hugh

You make a pretty valid point. The answers are greater than any one of us. It is sad that America has come to this point.

I have heard a lot about the Tea Party's and people taking the government back, but I don't see anyway really taking action.  It is sad our country has come to this. God is the only answer and very few understand this.

Hugh, excellent post, I totally agree with you. I don't really understand how we got here and I'm afraid of where it's going to take us.

Great post Hugh as always. And YES, I ALWAYS vote PRO-LIFE without hesitation!

Speaking of the "TEA PARTY", I have my tea bag in the envelope, stamped and ready to go. It may NOT make a difference, but it just might. It sure won't make a difference if we DO NOTHING.

Tea Party 2009

Isn't it funny how the same Liberal media that help get President Obama elected are now, criticizing him without end?
