Aloha my name is Matt Schapansky and I am the timeshare resale specialist for Aloha Realty Group. I moved to Maui in October of 2008. Everyone always asks the same question: Why did you move to Maui? My answer has always been: WHY NOT? You get to choose where you live and I can't think of a better place to live. As a real estate agent I enjoy helping people find their peace of paradise.
I began selling timeshare in 2007 for Starwood Vacation Ownership. I thoroughly enjoyed the product and the interaction with owners and potential owners. What I did not enjoy was exactly what customers dislike: Sales pressure, high prices, and working with a large corporation that treats customers like dollar signs. After a year of selling timeshares from the developer, I decided to change my focus and began selling timeshares on the resale market. The timeshare resale market is very different from the 90 minute presentation approach. The product differs slightly from what is offered by developers, however the biggest difference is the price. Buying on the resale market means buying for up to 70% less than buying from the developer.
