Today is Day 2 of Women of Faith Over The Top Event in Cleveland, Ohio   One of the featured speakers today is Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman. I have not personally heard them speak live, I understand it is very moving and an incredible story of forgiveness, healing and bonds of a close family.   Thank God, I have my three children near me and healthy, I can't begin to imagine the loss of a child!    Yesterday, someone spoke up who had lost her son and she just did not want to go on anymore. Of course we all prayed for her, I hope this story of strength and hope through grief will help all the mom's who may not want to go on anymore.   I pray for my friends and everyone who has lost a child.  May God Bless you and keep you in His loving arms. 09/18/2010

I attended my first ever Women of Faith event - Over the Top in Cleveland Ohio at the Quicken Loan Arena I was invited to attend the two day event by a girlfriend of mine who is a group leader for the event.  I  had no idea what I was committing to other than I wanted to go to support my friend, I really thought this was something her church was putting on.  Then she told me it was downtown, so I thought oh, they must have a really great turnout.  Little did I know this is a really big event with 29 stops in different cities. Rolling on the River is a casino-themed event Friday, Oct. 1 at Windows on the River. There is a legal concept called Procuring Cause that Cleveland Home Buyers would be wise to understand.  A buyer's agent should spend some time with a buyer at the outset discussing many things, and one of the topics is procuring cause.   Yikes...come on man...Procuring Cause...what's that? I just want to buy a home, can't you just show it to me?   The Ohio Association of REALTORS legal counsel has written several articles on procuring cause and agents also need to understand the implications and practical considerations of this important topic. Any field of endeavor has it's crazy, funny and stupid things done by its practitioners -- real estate is no different, and I would argue it's worse.  Why is it worse? In real estate in Ohio, one only needs to take 120 hours of pre-licensing coursework in order to be able to sit for for both the national test and a state-specific test that my middle-school daughter could pass with very little effort.  Think about it: In the State of Ohio, it takes 1,500 hours to obtain a cosmetology license or 1,200 hours to be a hair designer yet 120 hours to seller someone's largest asset.Whoa dude...when I walk into Best Cuts and say take #6 clippers to my head for my summer cut, someone needs to train for 1,200 hours but if I want to go out and represent a client with say a 500K or 1m+ property and ... 08/15/2010
