Watching the full moon take us to sunrise this morning was an especially joyful occasion! It gave me the chance to reminisce, looking back on my one and only son's accomplishments over the past thirty five years, on his birthday today.
As I stood gazing out at Elliott Bay bathed in the warm glow of the moon, I felt the pride only a mother can feel, knowing that her children are doing well, making a difference, creating a future…and the best is yet to come!

A venture to Woodland Zoo Park on a sunny day was just the ticket to bring back echos of Simon and Garfunkel. I might just be dating myself becoming reminiscent of the sixties, but time doesn't warrant vanity in such issues anymore. A stone's throw from downtown Seattle had me parking at the zoo in ten minutes flat. I got there just as the haze of morning was burning off and began a zoo-like adventure you just might enjoy... Today I look out on the billowing clouds in a bright blue sky, the ferry on Elliot Bay headed to Bainbridge Island, Alki Beach across the water, the cascade mountains devoid of the snowy caps they displayed so long and the marina pleasure boats docked for the day, I can't help but appreciate all that Seattle has to offer.

What better way to spend a Sunday than to climb aboard vintage motor yachts? We walked to Bell Harbor Marina to enjoy the Classic Yacht Association's Rendezvous Celebration to view these fine wood hull designs and cast a vote for our favorite.
There were too many amazing vessels to fit into one post, so this 30 second clip is the elegant BELLE, a traditionally designed 50' bridgedeck cruiser.

Walking on the waterfront in downtown Seattle makes me ponder things I might never ponder at all. I can see the cruise ship as big as any ten story building when it docks. I know the people will disembark, cameras in hand to walkabout, or hop on the sparkly clean white buses waiting to whisk them to one of our fabulous resort hotels, or get into one of the dozens of taxis waiting to accommodate them.
