real estate: The Winter Olympics...and of course...Real Estate! - 01/30/10 08:16 PM
The Winter Olympics will soon be under way and personally, I CAN’T WAIT! I love to see it from the very beginning…Getting to know each of the athletes as they work to make their dream a reality. Watching them compete on a level that so few of us (aside from die-hard athletes pro or not) will ever experience.

They train for years, whether they feel good or not. Injuries, mental struggles, physical limitations mean nothing to them. Some sports are “one man” such as skating, snowboarding or skiing. Other sports such as couples figure skating or the Luge rely … (2 comments)

real estate: Jumping to conclusions: - 12/16/09 08:15 AM
I'm on a plane heading to New York for a meeting with some of the best and the brightest in the Real Estate world (at least in New York)
It's a red eye flight and everyone around me is resting, some even snoring, and here I sit posting a blog.  What can I say...sometimes the most random things inspire me!
I don't have my headset on and currently playing is "The Time Travelers Wife". It's a movie that I had planned on seeing, but somehow never made it to the theatre to catch.
I'm looking up at the screen periodically and … (6 comments)

real estate: To be or NOT to be.... - 06/29/09 09:10 AM
I am thankful that I am a Realtor! I am lucky that I am a Realtor in TODAY'S day and age!
Gone are the days of Multiple Listing Books, or GIANT cell phones, or pagers! Today we have cell phones the size of a thumb, INTERNET access to ALL listings, Listing Book so that our clients can log on and view what properties are available for them, ActiveRain for us as Agents, Localism for the saavy consumer, Twitter, Facebook, you name it, we got it!
These days, there are so many ways to connect with people, it's almost scary. I have … (3 comments)

real estate: Slow and Steady... - 11/28/08 10:18 AM
There I was, driving to my friend Teresa’s house to help prepare a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner, listening to the radio, and then there it was: CHRISTMAS MUSIC!
For the most part I love Christmas music, but on THANKSGIVING DAY?? We hadn’t even had our feast yet, and there they were, blaring “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
Remind me please…this is Thanksgiving:

This is Christmas:

Why do I bring this up? Too often in our lives we tend to jump the gun.
We are in a hurry to get to where we think we need to be, … (5 comments)

real estate: The Seven Deadly Sins...in life and Real Estate! - 10/31/08 07:06 AM
So, I was laying on my sofa a few days ago, looking at all of the boxes I've collected in preparation to move, and thinking that I really should start packing, but what the heck, I felt like being a sloth! That got me to thinking about the 7 Deadly Sins, how many I had, and how many applied to Real Estate...
Here's what I found:
The Seven Deadly sins are:
Lust-Gluttony-Greed-Sloth-Wrath-Envy-Pride.
I believe they are all intertwined. One leads to another, though I'm a little confused about the Pride issue (more on that later).
Lust-

real estate: Your 10 Steps to Real Estate Success.... - 10/20/08 11:51 AM
Here at Seven Gables, if you are involved in our Journey to Mastery Program, you will quickly learn that while the program itself gives you the tools you need to be successful in your Real Estate Career, it’s the IMPLEMENTATION of the program that really makes it work!
You may be thinking to yourself, “That’s a No Brainer”…except that you forget one thing….we tend to get in the way of ourselves!
We set ourselves up to succeed and to fail. Like it or not, it is ultimately on US to move forward and tweak what isn’t working, and duplicate what is!

real estate: The Stuff We're Made Of.... - 09/03/08 11:32 AM
If you've been reading my blogs, you KNOW how much I love working at Seven Gables!
The Agents, the Staff Support, the Marketing Department, and the MANAGEMENT!
I look forward to getting to work everyday and learn something new from this talented pool of people!
I want to talk a little bit about MY MANAGER, My Mentor, but more than that now, my Friend, Lisa Greubel.
This woman never ceases to amaze me! She is a Full Time Realtor, Wife, Mother of Three, Office Manager, Trainer, and Coach. She manages to fit all of this into the same 24 hour … (7 comments)

real estate: Fire Sale! Everything priced to go! - 08/07/08 06:48 AM
That seems to be our Market Theme Song! It's a Buyers Market...No! It's a Sellers Market!
The truth is IT'S A REAL ESTATE MARKET...and this means that everyday, there are people BUYING AND SELLING Real Estate.
Some are buying their first home. Others are looking for investment properties. There are people who HAVE to sell because of relocation, or their house just got too big...whatever the reason they are active in Real Estate. So what's the problem? Why are people sitting on the fence? Should we as Real Estate agents have this on our yard signs:

Just curious! … (0 comments)

real estate: Does it Really Matter?? - 07/07/08 05:22 AM
So, I got my hair cut this weekend…why is this enough for me to post a blog about it? Because as I was drying my hair this morning, I realized I HATED IT!
I have always been pretty experimental with my hair. I’ve had it short, long, blonde, red, streaked and at one point in my life, I even had it purple! You would think that with someone who is so unafraid of trying new things, my hair cut this weekend wouldn’t be a big deal. It’s just hair, right? WRONG!
The gal that has always done my hair … (0 comments)

real estate: Crystal Ball? - 06/20/08 11:57 AM
I recently sent my blog link to a soon to be Realtor, Rosemary. This was her response:
"Wow those stats are scary, and pretty intimidating. I think that high rate of failure is due in large part to newcomers expecting to make too much money but not wanting to do the work that goes with it. I'm so excited to NOT become one of those statistics!"
How does Rosemary KNOW that she won't become one of those statistics? Does she have a crystal ball?

She KNOWS she won't be one of those statistics because she has interviewed … (2 comments)

real estate: What are the odds?? An interesting conversation... - 06/16/08 12:47 PM
One of the things I love to do, is to share my blogs with everyone, and get feedback! I recently sent my last blog to a gal who is going through Real Estate School, Erika.
I sent her the link, and asked her permission to post our conversation. She graciously said yes. Here it is:
New Blog: Let me know what you think!
Erika: I liked it! Straight to the point with no sugar coating and honest! Wow, those numbers are scary. Do you think those people were putting in any effort at all???
My response: In … (0 comments)

real estate: What are the odds?? - 06/12/08 12:56 PM
I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself. I think it will help shed some light on what I'm about to post...
I've been a licensed Realtor for the past 8 years, and I've been working at Seven Gables Real Estate for the last three years. I joined Seven Gables right when they were going to implement the Journey to Mastery ™program. At first, I opted out, even when Doug Yeaman, the author of JTM™ told me that I would have AHA! moments!

Due to health issues with a family member, I took a job in wholesale … (4 comments)

real estate: It can happen to you!!! - 06/04/08 05:17 AM
I'm going to borrow a Southern expression ...Well if that don't beat all!!?
I was logging on to my personal email account, when from the corner of my eye, I see the following:
"Ed McMahon losing his home to Foreclosure".  Read on!
LOS ANGELES - Ed McMahon, who for decades appeared as Johnny Carson's sidekick on "The Tonight Show," is fighting to avoid foreclosure on his multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills home, according to published reports.
The former "Star Search" host was $644,000 behind on payments on $4.8 million in mortgage loans when a unit of Countrywide Financial Corp. filed a default notice … (5 comments)

real estate: KNOCK KNOCK....who's there??? - 05/31/08 05:39 PM
That's the great start to jokes as old as time...Knock Knock...Who's there?...Banana...Banana who? You know that rest.
But this is also a profound question when you're in Real Estate. One of the ways we build our business is to hold open houses.
Typically, this means you put up a few signs, a flag on the front lawn and then hope that people show up in droves! If your're lucky, the right person will walk in with checkbook in hand and write an offer right then and there! Or even better, they walk to the trunk of thier car, pull … (3 comments)

real estate: Interview with Sandy De Angelis - 05/27/08 01:12 PM
Have I mentioned that I love what I do??  I get to talk to people about Real Estate, and help them make decisions that will shape their future.  I speak with people about what it takes to be a successful Realtor (not just an agent), and help those who decide they want a career in Real Estate get up and running quickly!
I also have the privilege of speaking with the Cream of the Crop Real Estate Agents in Orange County!
I interviewed one such Realtor recently, and this is what she had to say!
Me:How long have you been a … (3 comments)

real estate: Three Year Vet....Getting Over the Hump!!! - 05/20/08 12:31 PM
In my last blog, I asked the question, "What if it wasn't the market? What if it was you?"
I have asked that question many times while conducting my surveys for Quantum Management Systems.....
At first the agent would get offended. "What do you mean it's ME!?! DON'T YOU READ THE PAPERS??" (As a matter of fact, I don't read the papers, and do you know why that is??? Because it is the media's job to sell bad news!!! When I want information, I go to the source! The realtors that are out there, on a day to day … (1 comments)

real estate: Three year vet….and still going strong??? - 05/07/08 05:30 AM
We’ve been talking about the three year vet and how they made it past the dreaded “Two year fall out”.
Let’s see where they are now:
Most have learned to not waste money on frivolous marketing schemes, take over priced listings, and stay in constant contact with their past clients.
When I asked them how their careers were going, the over all response was: “It’s good, more or less. It could always be better”.
Notice they said “more or less”.
So I ask another question: What does better mean to you”
Most said “More Consistency” … (0 comments)

real estate: Three Year Vet?? - 04/22/08 08:37 AM
I’ve been sharing with you in my last few blog posts about being a new Real Estate agent. New is usually considered 2 years and under in the business….let’s move up one year, and see what happens to a 3 year vet!
I’ve interviewed fellow Realtors from different company’s to see where they’re at, how they got there, and what challenges they faced when they first got started. Here’s PART ONE:
Of all the agents I’ve spoken to, there seems to be a recurring theme. The theme is SUPPORT!
All of these agents said they could not have … (0 comments)

real estate: I want to be a Realtor...Now What (FINALE) - 04/14/08 02:29 PM
So much time, money and energy was wasted in the very beginning of your Real Estate Career, and yet you refuse to give up!  You took a part time job to help you pay your bills.  You cut back on your cable, in fact, you gave up cable!  No more internet at home either...that costs too much!  You've cut back on your cell phone bill as well, and you eat at home more and pack lunches for the kids....you're going to do WHATEVER you need to do so that you can stay in Real Estate!

EXCEPT......
1. You're not going to … (0 comments)
