Another Morris School picture. We have found another few pictures of Morris School. These were included in a 1936 issue called White County Centennial Edition of The Daily Citizen and White County Citizen published in August 1936.....a long time ago. This blogsite has had lots of responses from boys who attended Morris School in Searcy AR through the years. Here we see some actual photos of boys swimming and hiking. We have written several blogs featuring some old pictures of Morris School for Boys that operated in Searcy Arkansas for many years. Some of the boys, now men, got together for a reunion August 16, 2014, and they shared this group picture with me. And Larry Binz, who forwarded the picture to me, gave me permission to share it with you blog friends. I have cut it in order to get the whole picture in.

Guess what? I am not a boy and I am not an attendee of Morris School for Boys in Searcy AR but I have been invited to their reunion! The invitation is because of this blog. I featured several old pictures of the school that were found on ebay from time to time. Several comments came in from boys who did attend the school. Somehow they have joined forces and plan to have a get-together at the location that is now used for church services but used to be their school. This postcard was once run in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette by Steven Hanley, who has collected post cards for years and years and has a huge collection. He runs one a day in the newspaper. One like it is for sale at ebay right now so it seemed like a good time to redo a blog. Fox hunting is an interesting sport. This one has an explanation that at Armstrong Springs (not far from Searcy and only a memory now) in 1909 six mounted men and their dogs were about to go fox hunting. I don't believe we have talked about Morris School for boys. It was a Catholic school for boys who were boarded there. It was located on Morris School Road and had nice buildings and lots of land. It was probably about 6 miles from town. The thing that I remember the most about it was the presence of the boys on Saturday afternoon in downtown Searcy. They were almost like an original "gang."
