As is our family tradition, we will spend Easter Sunday in Metairie. My family will spend the day cooking and eating our favorites Crawfish, Shrimp and Hamburgers. Part of our tradition is the final wrap up of our beach holiday planning. Our family cruise holiday is already planned. We will depart New Orleans on Carnival Newest Cruise ship the Dream. In Metairie, LA. we are on Central time. At 2 AM we will turn our clocks forward. Daylight saving times was started during World War I in order to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October. In 1966, Congress pass a the Uniform Time Act which required and standardized the length of Daylight Saving Time.
In the spring we spring forward and the fall we fall back. This phrase helps remember how Daylight Saving Time works.
