things to do in the hudson valley: Apple Picking in the Hudson Valley - 09/24/15 09:43 PM
Fall is APPLE Picking Season in the Hudson Valley
Fall is a favorite time of year for many. I love the fresh air, warm days and cool nights. I love that the leaves start to change color and put on a show that ONLY mother nature could provide us. What I don't like is that it ends too quickly and then we have winter, but I digress.
What I really love is going apple picking. I'm frequently asked why I go with my husband each year as our two daughters are grown and don't live nearby.  Friends ask if we are bringing family … (11 comments)

things to do in the hudson valley: A Secret Garden in The Hudson Valley - 05/11/15 12:16 PM
Stonecrop Gardens Cold Spring New York
A Hidden Gem in The Hudson Valley
A beautiful landscape of gardens in the Hudson Valley that is certainly new to me. I read about it in an article of what to do for Mother's Day this year. One look online at their photos and I was hooked. The gardens are open on Saturdays but for a few times a year they open the gardens for special occassions. I think that Mother's Day is a special day and off we went to see some absolutely beautiful flowers.
A picture perfect day in the sun with flowers, blue skies, … (10 comments)

things to do in the hudson valley: Long Dock - A Beacon NY Park - 11/08/14 09:53 PM
LONG DOCK Park in Beacon NY - Perfect any time of year.
I am a frequent visitor of Long Dock. This is a clean up site owned by Scenid Hudson River. Once a dump site now a cleaned up park that is perfect for many things. Taking photos is one of them. Long Dock faces Newburgh NY and the skyline at sunset is amazing. I am just glad to know that someone cared enough to clean this environmental disaster up and make it a park. You would never know, as there is nothing left behind from its commercial and industrial history. … (9 comments)

things to do in the hudson valley: Pumpkins Apples and Hay Rides on a Newburgh NY Farm - 10/30/13 11:23 PM
Living In The Hudson Valley An afternoon on the farm…..
A treat of living in the Hudson Valley is all four of the seasons. Even winter has a plus side to it, but Autumn is my favorite for the photo opportunities it provides. The colors can be breath taking and the fresh, crisp, cool air a delight. Getting out for an afternoon on a local farm is not just for the kids. My girls have been out of the house for many years, but my husband and I never miss an opportunity for an afternoon on the farm. Pumpkins and apples … (6 comments)

things to do in the hudson valley: Apple Picking in the Hudson Valley - Pick Your Own - 10/12/13 11:41 AM
Pick Your Own Apples in the Hudson Valley
This 3 day weekend is the best for apples and pumpkins in the Hudson Valley.
Apple picking in the Hudson Valley seems to be a little late this year. The leaves are turning color and the apples are still on the trees and anxiously awaiting their time to be picked and eaten. If you are heading up to the Hudson Valley there are  plenty of local farms in the area.  ”Pick your own” apples is such a great fall activity.  My favorite farm is Lawrence Farms in the Town of Newburgh NY.
On good authority … (13 comments)

Florida Family Fun Fest 2013
Sunday, August 11th.... a sunny day in Florida NY for the 5K and 10K races
Every year a 5K and 10K race keeps locals fit and trim while raising money and providing a scholarship for one lucky high school senior. Runners come from all over the country. This year my daughter joined the local runners. Her trek was from Santa Cruz, California to the east coast for this run. This was her first 5K on the east coast. Most notably this race was much more hilly than her hometown by the beach. Most of the runners … (4 comments)

things to do in the hudson valley: Sunset over Newburgh NY - 07/23/13 09:19 PM
Picnic by the Waterfront & Views of the Hudson River
Sunsets are quite lovely. Lately I have been spending dinner time at the waterfront across from Newburgh at Long Dock Park in Beacon NY. There are no waterfront restauarnts in that part of town, so we bring our own food, chairs and a bottle of wine to sit and relax at the end of a tiring day. What could be better? I could get used to doing this everyday. We have been averaging about three or four nights a week this summer. These evenings seem like a mini vacation. A couple … (8 comments)

The United States Military Academy at West Point is located in the Hudson Valley, 50 miles north of New York City on the Hudson River. Only fifteen miles south of Newburgh on the Hudson River I can drive there in about 25 miinutes. I always enjoy taking the time to visit such an amazing part of the American History that is so close to home. things to do in the hudson valley: Just My Photos ~ Apple Picking on a Hudson Valley Farm... - 09/18/12 04:33 PM
Apple Picking in the Hudson Valley
Wordless Wednesday
Apple Orchards outside of city life are abundant in the Hudson Valley. Only 60 miles north of NYC, Newburgh NY is in a sweet location. There is always something to do on the weekends. In the fall the hay rides and apple picking are a big treat! Instead of a simple hayride, this old truck brings people to more remote parts of the farm to pick fresh crisp apples! I find it charming. The kids, and adults, all seem to think it's super fun!
