days on market for homes: How Quickly Are Homes Selling In Your State? {Infographic} - 11/18/16 02:50 AM
Homes continued to sell quickly from July through September 2016 with 44% of homes selling in less than one month. The infographic below shows how quickly homes sold in each state. What's worth pointing out is that homes sold so quickly that the time measure now goes up to only 75 days, as opposed to 90 days in the first half of 2016.
 
Amazingly, homes in 42 out of 50 states + the District of Columbia sold in under 60 days. Homes in 17 state sold in under 30 days.

Homes continued to sell quickly during July 2016 with 50% of homes selling in 36 days or less. The infographic below shows how quickly homes sold in each state. And while homes in 11 states still took 60-90 days to sell, it's worth pointing out that even that pace is "nothing to sneeze at." What many people don't realize is that one reason most listing agreements are written for 180 days is because historically that is how long it took homes, on average, to sell.

How quickly are homes selling in your state? At year end, according to the National Association of Realtors'® (NAR) Existing Home Sales Report, homes were on market for an average of 58 days in December,  improved by eight days as compared with the 66 days on market in December 2014.
 
And according to the NAR report, 32% of homes listed for sale were on the market for 30 days or less in December 2015. Colorado, Utah, and Delaware outperformed all other states with homes in these states selling in under 30 days, on average.
