No shrinking violet, New York is in your face, it's romantic, sublime, magical, a powerhouse with a pulse all its own. It is unquestionably a place with many faces. Writers have waxed poetic about it. Lyricists, inspired by it, have kept us singing along with the likes of Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," or George M. Cohan's "only 45 minutes from Broadway," or "New York, New York, it's a wonderful town . . .."
