United States Army Sergeant Robert Edwin Graves served valiantly in the Korean War and is still unaccounted for. Here is the story: In late November 1950, the 5th Cavalry Regiment, part of the 1st Cavalry Division were ambushed by massive counteroffensive by Chinese Communist Forces along the Chongchon River in North Korea. Fathers and Mothers do not raise their children to die during wartime but conflict is inevitable to prevent power grabs by murderous, feckless leaders, hungry for more than their fair share at the cost of all else.

Around me, I see the importance of other flags being placed in yards rather than Old Glory. Whatever happened to teaching young ones to be patriotic, to instill respect of fellow Americans and love of country?

Two young men joined the Army, leaving the safety of their family home to valiantly serve the United States of America in separate wars. They were cheered on as heroes, sincere prayers spoken often, for their safe return.
Uncle Robert was held as a Prisoner of War and went Missing in Action during the Korean War, never to be found. I pray they bring him home. Cousin Randy, his only son, a Helicopter Gunner in the Vietnam War, was hit by enemy fire while on a rescue mission. He passed away before the pilot landed.
Giving thanks and feeling grateful to all heroes who bravely stepped up, giving their all for the United States of America. That includes my cousin Randolph Edwin Graves (Vietnam War) and his father Robert Edwin Graves, MIA as a POW (Korean War).
Though many decades have passed, the grief remains for the loss of a father and his only son, my cousin and uncle. Rest in Peace Robert E. Graves KIA/Vietnam War and Randolph E. Graves, POW/Korean War.
Uncle Robert's remains have yet to be brought home. Randy was fatally shot during a rescue mission, he was a helicopter gunner. Honoring them keeps their spirits alive, so these heroes are not forgotten.
