speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Home Sweet Home nothing! I'D EAT MYSELF OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME! - 11/28/10 05:32 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): Home Sweet Home nothing! I'D EAT MYSELF OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME!

If I lived in this amazing gingerbread log cabin, I'D EAT MYSELF OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME! I ab-so-lute-ly would, starting with the outside of the home, especially the caramel steps, chocolate porch and peanut butter-chocolate landscape! Roger Mucci's post had a beautiful victorian-style ginger bread house and all I could think of is what a sweet treat that would be!
So it's a good thing I do not live here because I'D EAT MYSELF OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Weeeee! - 11/21/10 03:25 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): Weeeee!

The downtown St. George, Utah area is home to many pieces of outdoor sculptures from the whimsically lighthearted to those reminiscent of the area's history. This bronze statue brings back sweet childhood memories of a simpler time, "Swing me momma, swing me higher", my boys would say again and again!
Some are for sale while others have been purchased and remain as permanent displays for everyone's enjoyment. This piece of art, named Flight Time is by Gary Lee Price and is for sale at $17,000.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Happy Halloween from Hiway! - 10/31/10 06:14 AM

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Happy Halloween from Hiway!
I love Halloween! It's the only time you are able to be someone else and not get arrested for impersonation!
The season is ripe for everything that goes bump in the night from ghosts to goblins to witches with warts and wide brimmed black pointy hats! I love them all! The excitement of getting dressed up and then hitting the neighborhoods, especially the ones that give good candy like *regular-size* candy bars.
Hiway is gearing up for big event as you can see here and wants to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Be like a clown and paint it on! - 10/24/10 05:26 AM

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Be like a clown and paint it on!
Do you ever have days when even smiling becomes difficult?
Be like a clown and paint it on!
Life is a daily challenge, the neverending twists and turns, unexpected events that may try even the best of demeanors.
You've heard the saying, "Everyone loves a clown", haven't you?
Clowns possess the ability to make people forget their troubles through entertainment. When I think of clowns, I think of Red Skelton and a quote of his...

"If some day you're not feeling well, you should remember some little thing I have said or done … (25 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday: Stand alone? - 10/10/10 06:07 AM

Speechless Sunday: Stand alone?
Pine trees are usually found in large clusters of all sizes and shapes but this particular one is a stand alone for miles and a few descriptions come to mind...
Uno Alone Self-reliant Lone Ranger One Tree Hill Single Minded King of the Hill One Point of View A Guarded Sentry Independent Thinker Outstanding in the Field...even though it's a hill Eventually the tree may be surrounded by others but seems perfectly content to oversee the vibrant wildflowers that dot the rolling hill that is called home. Are you a stand alone?
Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Come on down, I saved you a seat! - 09/26/10 05:35 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): Come on down, I saved you a seat!

Fall has come to southern Utah but that only means cooler nights with more sun-filled days! Even as the color of the leaves begin to turn, one thing is still sure, the temperatures are perfect for swimming! Many communities have pools and residents may swim year 'round in some that are indoor / heated. Pools in neighborhoods increase desirability, especially here in sunny southern Utah!
So, when you decide to visit, come on down, I saved you a seat!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Get really WILD! - 09/05/10 05:02 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): Get really WILD!
While on Board Tour, this pillow caught my attention while walking through one of 6 bedrooms in this home.
The owners had 6 children so the pillow made a lot of sense. I grew up in a family of 8 children, with never a dull moment in our household!
It also made me think of Rosanne Barr when she did her stand up routine. She would say, "I feel that if the kids are still alive when my husband gets home from work, I've done my job."
I must say having children is definitely a WILD … (25 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): HOLE-IN-ONE! - 08/08/10 07:11 AM
Saturday, three friends and I golfed at Dixie Red Hills Golf Course, a local favorite 9-hole course in St. George, Utah. The day was overcast, a bit windy but provided a cool alternative to days previously spent in 3-digit temperatures.

After a few quick lessons on chipping, we were on our way to a fantastic day of golf amid the red rocks bluffs and jutting cliffs and green fairways offering the most spectacular views!

We had some fantastic drives...putts and chip ins.

As we made our way from one hole to the other.

And then came the HOLE-IN-ONE! What … (20 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): SMILE! - 08/01/10 05:46 AM
Speechless Sunday (almost!): SMILE!

SMILE if you like to spend your days chasing squirrels!
SMILE if you'd rather have a steak instead of kibble!
SMILE if your idea of relaxing is finding a good shade tree!
SMILE if you know how to find an alternate water source!
SMILE if you secretly like cats but keep it on the down-low!
SMILE if you want to go for a ride in the back of a truck!
SMILE if your best friend happens to be a human!
SMILE!
Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): My giddyup's dun gawn! - 07/25/10 06:13 AM

If only to hear a few conversations of the family that traveled along the dusty road on the way to market with a wagon full of farm goods or dressed in their finest going to the local church for Sunday worship.
While on our way to our favorite fishing spot at Panguitch Lake, we stopped at the Paguitch General Store for worms and sitting alongside the highway were several pieces and parts of old wagons in various stages of decay. The metal wheels and joints have survived the weather, the wood slowly turning to splinters as time unhurriedly passes by.
This wagon seems to say: … (20 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): She had pretty pink ribbons in her hair! - 07/11/10 02:59 PM

While touring a home recently, I came across this little bush in the backyard of a golf course home in Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah. It had pretty pink blooms that looked like little pink ribbons and the first thought that came to mind was...She had little pink ribbons in her hair.

Speechless Sunday (almost!): REaDy or not, here I come!

There's no Hide-n-Seek when it comes to this southern Utah lily! She demands everyones attention as she opens up, exposing her true beauty to all passersby! She draws you in with her vibrancy and allows you to admire her striking color.
Thank you for including me in your plans so that I may share your magnificence with everyone here.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): FREE GIFT via Mother Nature! - 06/06/10 02:10 PM

Stepping outside after a recent downpour, I looked across the parking lot and gazed in awe at the gift that Mother Nature left after the passing storm! An amazing rainbow was s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y across the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at the local Red Cliffs Mall in St. George, Utah.
I began to wonder if she was giving me a sign to go to peruse the isles in search of a good book buy or audiotape. Hmmmm, Nah, I realized, it wasn't about me at all!
She was in a gift-giving mood!
Thank you very much Mother Nature, gift accepted and much appreciated.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Orange you pretty? - 05/29/10 01:32 PM

With the warmer temperatures come more beautiful blooms that sporadically cover the entire southern Utah countryside. The red dirt compliments the color of these wild flowers making them pop and the blossoms almost look like they are virtually floating in the air!
When I saw this particular flower, a knock-knock joke came to mind involving bananas and oranges but then I thought about how pretty this plant truly is with its simplicity and vibrant color.
I'm in awe of what nature presents every day, orange you?
p.s. We're going fishing in the a.m. tomorrow, so I wanted to be sure to wish you all a … (20 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Nature's Cheering Section! - 05/23/10 06:44 AM

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Nature's Cheering Section!
Pom-poms!
This was my only thought as I drove past these frilly trees in southern Utah! I turned the car around, scaled a 2 1/2 foot wall in high heels and took several pictures. They appear to be nature's cheering squad with their brightly colored, fluff balls.
What a delight to see this and brought to you by Mother Nature! Happy Sunday to you all! Cheers!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): I am a stealthy hunter...moving quietly through the trees...unseen by all...oh! - 05/16/10 05:37 AM

It must be built-in curiosity that drives Hiway to explore. Every now and then, she slips outside unnoticed and doesn't go far before she's running, screaming back to the front door!  Meowing until someone lets her in. I was outside taking pictures of some flowers and she was stalking me, thinking I couldn't see her!
I played along and took this photo of her. She is pretty good at hiding...she'd be stealthy if only this tree was bigger!
Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Echin...Echinop...Echinops...Blooming Cactus Encore! - 05/02/10 05:13 AM

Just as I promised, here is another blooming cactus, only this time, in white! It will flower one more time this year in southern Utah and my husband who is a landscape expert, will notify me again. After these cacti bloom, he tells me everyone wants these in their yards. I can see why! They are quite beautiful!
This Echin...Echinop...Echinops, er...blooming cactus will be back again for an encore later this year. Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Hula anyone? - 04/25/10 04:20 AM

While out doing yard work, I happened to see this tree we planted several years ago blooming out. Prior to today, I had not seen it all dressed up in its finery. And the first thing that came to mind was the grass skirts that hula dancers wear when performing and when a slight breeze stirred, they started dancing, swaying back and forth!
What comes to your mind?
Happy Sunday to you all!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday (almost!): Triple Delight! - 04/18/10 06:37 AM

While trying to come up with a fitting title to these beautiful tulips, 'Three times the charm' would have been appropriate but their stunning color urged me to continue searching my mind for a more uplifting description.
Then, all of a sudden, I got it!
One tulip by itself is lovely,
Two tulips are twice as beautiful,
But three are truly a Triple Delight!
Happy Sunday everyone!
