The Wilshire Gayley - Curbed LA reports that a new 29-story tower has been proposed at the corner of Wilshire Blvd and Gayley Ave on the Wilshire Corridor in Westwood, Los Angeles.
Kambiz Hekmat, the developer, has not decided on exactly what he will build on the site and is considering two options depending on market conditions: a 134-room luxury business hotel with 10 for-sale condominiums lor a 144-unit condo tower with a pool, spa and fitness center. The exterior treatment would be the same for either development.

The WHY is a revolutionary new concept in yacht design. Its a moving island, "developed with the most advanced sustainable technologies, recycling thermal energy, and the impact on the sea is minimal."
WHY is a collaboration of between French yacht builder Wally and French fashion house Hermes (hence the "WHY" name). A model of the WHY was recently displayed at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Yacht Show.

What about Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur in the "In Memoriam" tribute to well known Hollywood Stars?
I think the 2010 Academy Award Production was an excellent show and I congratulate Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin for the terrific job they did as the hosts. I also salute all the winners in the various categories.
Of special note (I think) was Kathryn Bigelow for being the first woman to win the "Best Director" for "The Hurt Locker". I though it was fitting that her award was presented by Barbra Streisand.

What do a German icon, a Chinese high-tech enterprise and a Billionaire from Nebraska have in common?
BYD, Daimler (Makers of Mercedes-Benz) and Warren Buffet all have a vested interest in electrics cars of the future.
BYD (a Chinese manufacturer that produces many of the world's cellphone batteries) has signed a "memorandum of understanding" with Daimler to jointly develop an electric car for the Chineese market.
BYD Auto already has a range of gasoline and hybrid vehicles that it sells in China.
When I first googled BYD I found photos of cars that appeared to be imitations of Mercedes models ....

Apple recently announced that 10 Billion songs have been downloaded from iTunes.
That's an incredible number.
Apple awarded a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card to the individual who made the 10 Billionth download.
Coincidentally, the day this milestone was reached (February 24th) happened to be Steve Jobs' 55th birthday, so I'm sure there was a lot to celebrate about at Apple.
Apple's iTunes Store currently offers a catalog of over 12 million songs, over 55,000 TV episodes and over 8,500 movies including over 2,500 in high definition.
