Taking the Time to Know the People Around You Several hours ago I received an email from a high school classmate of mine. He had attached an article about a high school biology teacher we both had well over 50 years ago. This teacher was celebrating her 100th birthday. There was a picture of her standing at a table cutting her birthday cake. The years have been kind to her. I Hope There Is a Special Place In Heaven Yesterday I wrote a post entitled, “I Hope There Is a Special Place in Hell”. It was about a family who set up numerous charities to supposedly help cancer victims. They collected $180,000,000…and then spent the majority of the money on themselves. The Feds have closed down operations, and the family is certainly going to end up in big trouble-but not before they blew through most of the money. I saw the following story the other day and it made my blood boil. It seems a man and his family collected almost $200 million dollars in charitable donations for cancer patients…and then spent almost all of it on themselves. They gave themselves lavish vacations, bought expensive cars, paid for college for their kids, and employed themselves at six-figure salaries. According to the government, they raised money through the Cancer Fund of America in Knoxville, Tennessee, and its affiliated Cancer Support Services; The Breast Cancer Society in Mesa, Arizona; and the Children's Cancer Fund of America in Powell, Tennessee. Kindness Also Served at Chick-fil-A I actively look for feel-good stories; especially now, with all the hurtful things going on in the world. When I find one of these stories, I like to share it with as many people as I can. It is the only hope we have for the world. What's it all about, Alfie? You have to be working your way towards retirement to have any idea what this headline means...or you have to be a movie buff with a passion for old movies. I was following the breaking story of the terrorist attack in Pakistan in which at least 130 people were gunned down today by a murderous bunch of monsters. Breaking Down the Barriers That Divide Us Have you ever watched the ABC reality show entitled, Wife Swap? Sad to say, my wife and I are reality TV junkies.
