Keeping the Momentum & Spirit of REBarcamps (especially if you didn't attend!)

By

I've been fortunate enough to attend a number of the REBarcamps over the past year - (San Francisco, New York City, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, Salt Lake City).  At EVERY event, attendees and organizers ask a fundamental question -

How do we keep the momentum that we've built at the REBarcamp? - exchanging ideas, learning new technologies, staying motivated.  Well, Richardo Bueno, organizer of the REBarcamp-Los Angeles has figured it out:

Hey Gang,

I'm happy to say that we're having a Realtor/Blogger Meetup & Tweetup this Thursday at Aroma Coffee & Tea from 11:00am - 1:00pm. if you're a blogger, techie, and social media wannabe, then this is the place to be!

Most of the group is the same crowd that you saw at REBarCamp Los Angeles so there should be some great energy in the room and a lot of great discussions circulating around. Also, we'll be talking about a little mastermind group that we've been thinking of hosting...

(More details on that can be found at www.lamastermind.com). For now, here are the details on the meetup: Thursday Meetup @ Aroma Coffe & Tea If you can make it, be sure to RSVP via the event page so we can call ahead an reserve enough table space.

See ya there!

Ricardo Bueno

The lesson here - REBarcamp is not a one-time event. It's a movement that you have to ride every week, every month in your local area.  Take advantage of your new network and contacts.  Create a group on MeetUp.com - continue the positive energy by getting together with your new friends and colleagues.

(And Ricardo - you are the man! Nice work!)

Looks like REBAr camp could be a way to meet new people, exchange ideas about business and real estate, and have some fun, so I will check it out next time around.

Scott - it's always great to see you at these events.  And yes, Ricardo is the man.  I'm grateful that Micheal Price invited me to the very first one in San Francisco, it's been awesome watching these spread like wildfire across the country.  Who'd a known.  Let's keep the momentum going for sure.  See you at Inman and possibly another SF BarCamp.   That would be cool, full circle.  :-)

So true, Scott. Ricardo is a master at this, too. Some of the best times and greatest learning is at the more informal gatherings. And they sure are fun. Too bad I can't just hop in the car and spend 2.5 hours each way getting there. Will you be at REBarCampOC on June 25th?

I always try to encourage people who attend REBarCamps, especially the newly initiated to social media, that they need to partner up with another like-minded professional, and meet regularly once a week for coffee or lunch, and simply keep one another on task/accountable to implementing the use of social media and web 2.0 tools into their marketing efforts. Otherwise, our tendency is for our time and energy to be held hostage by the tyranny of the urgent.

And Scott, allow me to publically/personally thank you for being such a consistent supporter/sponsor of REBarCamp across the country, and offering up some really helpful information that provides true benefit to those who attend.

Scott, continuing to get motivated and share ideas among others you met has got to be very helpful.

I have really enjoyed both of the REBCs I attended.  And the connections were great.  I have worked at keeping some of those alive... and that is one of the reasons I enjoy A|R...

I'll make one of these soon. First I need a real vacation, then my girlfriend who is also a Realtor will let me go. Give a little, get a little. Scott, I absolutely love Altos. I have been featuring a blog post a week on one zip code, and my redesigned main site and virtual real estate team site are launching with sign ups on both. I have been sending zip code analysis to my out of state investors and they are thrilled. Disclaimer, this is a free commercial for a great product.
