You May Think You Are Only Interviewing Me!

By
Real Estate Agent with Monument, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain homes

I pray I'm never desperate enough for business that I can't take the time to interview and evaluate my sellers before jumping into a listing.  A typical phone call for me is, "we would like to meet you and discuss listing our property."  I'm humbled and so grateful for the call but I have to take a few minutes to make sure we are the right fit for partnership.

Partnership!  Yup that's right.  This is a partnership and I have to know I'm dealing with someone that I can communicate well with, someone that is being honest and up front with me, and someone that really wants to succeed.  I'm going to market the home to the best of my ability including spending my $ up front so I can't take listings for fun as I call them.

I'm going to be honest with my sellers and give them all the data they need to make the right decision on price.  I'm going to spend time with them helping them see the home through the eyes of a buyer and deciding what items on the "honey do list" need to be done as well as how to present the home accentuating the best features.  I'm going to spend time and effort directed towards their success.  So I have to know we are on the same page here and that they are with me all the way to the end.

There is much wisdom in what you say, Lorraine. It is good for many of us who don't follow your advice to start, asit would save us much grief and aggravation in the long run.

What a smart approach to a listing. When I first started, any listing was a great listing. I'm afraid Hitler could hav called and said I have a little bungalow with great security features and I would have been all over it. Not so much now. It really does need to be a good fit.

Billi:  I hear agents say it all the time that they will take any listing but I need to have clients that I feel are on the up and up with me, want to succeed and are not just using me to test the market, and will not sabotage my efforts.  You should see the "honey do" list I give my clients before my sign hits the yard!  Many of my sphere obviously know each other and they all laugh about each other's lists.
