WALKTOBERFEST - A Fall Festival for Dogs and their Humans

WALKTOBERFEST  -- A Festival for DOGS and their HUMANS!

         The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is celebrating the 27thAnnual Walktoberfest (Walk-a-Thon). 

        WALKTOBER fest will have lots of great food, activities, vendors, and some music.

       When:    October 2, 2009  - Saturday  (rain or shine

        Where:   Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Merrimack, NH, 221 Daniel   Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH

       Time:      9:00 regisration and vendors open 

                     10:00 - Walk starts  Walk course open until 11:30

                     (currently vaccinated, properly leashed NO FLEX LEADS) 

                      12:00-4:00  Octoberfest Pets allowed ALL DAY!

Cost:       $5.00 adults/kids 12+  - kids 11 years & under - Free

               Free admission for those collecting Walk-a-thon pledges! 

Proceeds:         To benefit the Humane Society for Greater Nashua  

Dogs who are properly leashed (no flex leads) and vaccinated are welcomed all day.

                                      Shelter Dogs will be available for on the spot adoption at Walktoberfest!  New Hampshire pets for adoption

     The Humane Society for Greater Nashua has taken in many pets who have become homeless for various reasons including recently flooding and foreclosures.  They strive to find homes for all these pets, but are in need of supplies.

  The Humane Society relies solely on community-wide support so please attend or send a donation.

             

 

      New Hampshire was chosen as the Most Livable State in America! The

Joan - What a great event!  I hope that it is as successful as you need it to be.  There are so many pets that just seem to get left behind in the confusion of the times.  Thanks for being a part of the effort to relocate them.

Hi Joan!  I love this event!  What a fun time will, I'm sure, be had by all--humans AND K-9's!

Joan, Who knew you were having so much fun up there? Will you be there with a favorite canine? I have two Boston Terriers, one would love this event and the other would hate it.

Jack ~  One of the forgotten victims of the financial crisis are the pets that get left behind.  Some can't afford them, and when some lose their homes pets are not welcome in apartments... Some have been victims of weather related problems. There are many homeless pets all over the US.

Patricia ~  This is a great event... I had a lot of fun last year even though I don't have a pet!  Lots of activities besides the Pet Walk.

Debe ~  I am hoping to participate again this year.  It's a good thing I have allergies or I would probably adopt about 3 dogs and 3 more cats!  LOL

Charles ~ I have a couple of "adopted" therapy pets... One is a small "terror"  LOL  & One a retired greyhound.  I think it will depend on the weather as to which one come along to the Walktoberfest! Some dogs just don't like the crowds and I can understand that.

Joan, you sure have some wonderful events in your neck of the woods! I can't imagine how you keep up with everything, but I KNOW you do. Dogs and their humans... :-) Love it!

Can you tell me why there are so many fesetivals in NH? I'm amazed, you always post each day one festival :P each day or twice LOL :) no offense, I love to see them and to learn from it, take care ! !

Kat ~  I don't get to all the events, but my friends, family and clients love to get updates on what is going on in NH.  There is so much, I have to pick and choose what I write about.

George ~  LOL  You are tooo funny!  I never thought of that!  Actually, I think they want to get folks to have a beer or 2 and then adopt a half dozen pets!  We'll see if this works!

Ray ~  Things will start to slow down a bit after all the old home days, heritage days, fairs and harvest festivals.  I think this is so that folks don't start getting depressed when they have a lot of leaves to rake !  LOL  I've had a couple folks calling to get updates on events.  LOL  There are too many for me to cover....

Joan what a great event.  For pet and their owner.  I hate owners who have dogs NEVER walk them... mine are sooo trained IF THEY ARE NOT WALKED they are leashing me daily drag me down the street ;p
