I played Cave Man last night.

It was around 6:45 last night when talking to a client that my land line went dead.  I then called back or I should say tried to call back and got the message...."we are sorry, all circuits are busy right now.  Please try your call again."

That was my cell phone.  I tried several times and finally got through and told my client I would call back tomorrow.   5 minutes later my house looked like this...

OK, we stumbled around and found the flashlight that had enough power to find a candle and matches before it went dead.  I tried to make a call to another client and receive that message again, so I gave up.

It was fun in a way.  NO noise except the 40-60 mile an hour wind that caused this outage.  So by firelight my wife and I thought about playing a game of chinese checkers.  Then we thought, It's quiet, a nap sounded good.

That lasted about 15 minutes until the kids got home.  It was a new game for my Grand daughter who found that the computer didn't work, nor did the TV.  It was an eye opening experience for her.  She was a bit more grateful in the morning.

We could have complained a lot about the situation, but, it was still above freezing outside and I new we would have power by morning, unlike many of the Ice Storm victims of every winter.

For me, it was a great change of pace.

Now today, I will call and make my apologies to those I wasn't able to contact last night and we will move on with life.

I on a few occasions had to use my cell phone for light.  Isn't it amazing how spoiled we really are?

Having to read by candle light is a good experience for the techno-electronic age, a loss of power can be a good thing now and then.

Bill, you show us how to cope with life in most all of your blogs.  This is another great example of how to handle an inconvenient situation.

Bill, I am glad the storm is over for you guys.  It sounds like you are having some good weather already, our temperature is still jumping back and forth between 80's and the 60's in day time.

Hi Bill,

We were promised the same weather here too. We had some wind but I guess we missed most of the fun. I like down time like these and was looking forward to lights out...seems you had all the excitement.

We had similar weather...you probably had time to actually talk to each other without the television, computer, phones, etc...what a novel idea!

William, I know the feeling, especially in the winter when you lose power and don't have heat or water if you are on a private well...it certainly teaches you the need to be prepared.

Am glad all are well -- certainly an eye-opener as to what our young ones are accustomed to.  They adapt amazingly well -- how special.

Hey cave man, aren't you glad the wind is gone!  GEEZ -- all kinds of stuff blowing around.  A football found it's way into my yard.  Trees are down all over, lawn furniture changed residences, etc., etc...
