Make A Home Within Your Home for Your Cat

Do you have space under on open staircase in your living room? That strange space in your home that is usually inhabited by plants or dust-bunnies? Maybe you have a nook in your bedroom or a shalf overhang in your kitchen. These are all perfect place for a "kitty cubbie".

This would be a great place to let your furry one know that they have their own space. Try a small cube style coffee table  with cushion or Ottoman. This way there is a hang out spot and also a place to store toys and treats. For a little extra touch try hanging small toys from the bottom of stairs or overhang.

If you are showing your home for sale I think this would be a cute way to keep your pets toys and bed in a fashionable setting and make your pet feel like they have a place to chill while strangers enter their home.

And by all means make sure that the litter box is clean and fresh at all times!  Cats fid their own unique places to lounge and relax.  One of mine prefers behind the doorway to the half bath which is rarely used. To her it is her own private room.  They love walk in closets too. We keep a space towards the back for them to hide out when they want to.

I had a listing once with a very unusual, too friendly cat.  This cat would follow agents around and especially liked trying to trip them on the steps!!  A lot of agents were afraid of the cat.  When I had a brokers open - I found a woman agent at the top of the steps screaming that this cat had cornered her and she couldn't get away from it.  I had to pick up the cat and lock it in a bedroom.

I've heard that cats are drawn (the most) to the people that ignore them or are afraid of them, I think they can smell fear.
