The south Denver suburbs has many wonderful schools and the schools in the Douglas County School District are no exception. Often times this is a very important factor for a Denver home buyer when choosing to buy a home.
Colorado is an open enrollment state, but some schools are at or near capacity, and living within the school's geographic boundaries can sometimes be the only or best way to be certain of enrollment.
Stone Mountain Elementary in the Douglas County School District is a wonderful school that is one I am often asked about. It received a not from Denver's 5280 Magazine last May as it landed on its very notable top schools list and was built as a "green" school.
Some of the neighborhoods that are within Stone Mountain Elementary School enrollment boundaries would be The BackCountry and Weatherstone, both beautiful Highlands Ranch neighborhoods. Stone Mountain Elementary is atually located in the Weatherstone neighborhood and there is a walking path that leads into The BackCountry neighborhood.
