For the past few months the San Diego Zoo has been undergoing major renovations that had the front entrance closed, which meant that you had to enter the Zoo through the exit. Maybe they were taking a cue from Microsoft where you click on the START icon to shut down your computer. Anyway... Following are some pictures from the Zoo taken this weekend. The first one is the new plaza at the front entrance. It is much nicer and wider than the old entrance. Right across from the front entrance is Flamingo Lagoon: There are more birds in Flamingo Lagoon than just flamingos, though. You can usually find some peacocks strutting around and posing on the fence to have their pictures taken with the children: One of the places I don't like to go is the Reptile House, but I did this weekend because many of its exhibits were undergoing renovation, too. Here are two of the Reptile House residents, an albino Burmese python and a king cobra: I prefer to go see the big cats rather than the reptiles: Or the meerkats. They are always a lot more fun than snakes! The new polar bear exhibit is a great experience, too: If you go early in the morning, you can sometimes see the elephants getting their pedicures: And we can't forget the pandas. The San Diego Zoo was the first zoo to breed pandas in captivity and has the largest collection of pandas outside of China. If you like flowers, remember that the San Diego Zoo is also an internationally acclaimed botanical garden, and there is always something blooming. Right now the bromeliads are in full bloom. The bromeliad garden is to the left side of the Reptile House. And while you're at the bromeliad garden, step inside the little aviary there and see some beautiful hummingbirds: The San Diego Zoo is just a few miles from your Mission Valley condominium, and if, by chance, you don't have a Mission Valley condominium, well, give me a call and I'll help you buy one! If you're looking for a great real estate agent in San Diego, well, I'm available 24/7, so feel free to contact me by phone or email. Jim Frimmer, Realtor ♪♫♫♫♪ ♪♫♫♫♪ Recent blog posts:
