BofA Looks to Exit Correspondent, What Next?
Heard on the news this morning:
"Bank of America Corp. will exit the wholesale mortgage-lending business Tuesday, limiting its dealings with mortgage brokers as it focuses on loans made with consumers and community banks". . WSJ, more.
Well, this was a surprise. I recall that BofA exited the wholesale mortgage business some time ago. However, I know that 3 of the loan officers to whom I refer buyer business are "Correspondent" lenders.
Interesting, to say the least. Will Wells Fargo and other megas that fund correspondent lenders pick up the slack??
"Bank of America had a 24.3% share of the correspondent market in the first quarter, second only to Wells Fargo & Co.""
Jump in ActiveRain folks. How do you identify yourself?? Are you a Retail Bank, a Mortgage Bank or a Mortgage Broker??
