After the Storm.....Birds on a Mission

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway California Realty DRE #01492138

This morning we had a big storm but by this afternoon we had a slight break. The rain stopped and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds for a few minutes. I spotted a lot of hungry birds trying to find food before the next leg of the storm came rolling in. They seemed to all be fighting over a spot on the bird feeders. I have never seen such a crowd.

This bird was making a lot of noise and just before it flew off, another yellow bird showed up in the tree. They did not wait for their picture.

I thought this was an owl but as I got closer I realized it was just a big Mourning Dove.

Hi Kwee,

I wish we had turtles here! I am lucky to find colored birds but many backyard birds and raptors. I love birds.

Hi Gretchen,

I like the yellow bird too. I was so surprised. It was up in the tree making all kinds of noise. It did not even seem to be bothered with me taking pictures. Then another yellow bird showed up and they flew off together. I guess they know it is Valentine's Day tomorrow.

Hi Wanda,

They do seem to be watching me all the time but my dogs are what concerns them. This little yelllow bird is so cute.

I have a sparrow that sleeps on the front porch every night and he doesn't even fly off anymore I take his picture and he just looks at me. When he sleeps over somewhere else I get concerned. Every night I go out and check to see if he is there. My family justs shakes their head. He is my friend!

Hi David,

There was a mob of birds in the backyard around the feeder. I think the cold weather has made it harder for them to find food. I am wondering if some of them are returning to California since the groundhog seems to think that spring is coming soon. There must have been 20-30 birds there this afternoon and all making a lot of racket but I do not think they were angry except when my dogs came out and ran after them barking. The dogs like to eat the sunflower seeds that fall to the ground.
