Oh wow, this is funny. We went to dinner in Portland last night for Cajun-Southern cooking...it was hot and spicy. I enjoy the flavors, but my stomach feels a bit out of sorts today. My husband would be all over this event - he has a gut of steel. :)

LOVE the HEAT, or I should say love it but unlike days gone by dont get to enjoy the real heat anymore. I am not sure what happened but in my 20s and even 30s I could eat stuff that would make most cry and scream and I would get a laugh out of it. Just last week I was eating at a mexican restaurant and the guy asked if I liked really hot sauce I obliged one person ate a bite and was pissed I ate the entire thing but paid for it for 3 days!?!>!>

It sucks getting old but it does beat the alternative (lol)

Enjoy my friend (in moderation)

Hi Rebecca,  You sound just like Debbie and I.  I love the stuff and and she prefers to stay far away.  I bet they will have something for everyone.

Alexandara & Ron,  We do live in the greatest country on earth, we have freedoms to partake in these types of events and enjoy the flavor literally and figuratively of the cultures around us.  Hope you both had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.

Hi L&S,  I think that seems to be a common theme, he loves it she does not.  The other day Debbie dipped a chip into some of my fiery hot salsa thinking it was Picante type junk and Oh my, she turned red and actually got mad..LOL  That stuff is smokin hot.

Michael,  Oh so true.  I know some folks who eat fresh picked habenero like they were sweet pickles.  No freaking way for this kid..LOL

Hi Toni,  That would make some great video wouldn't it..

Joanna,  This could not be held in a better place.  So fitting for the Q and all she represents.  Salsa anybody?

Hey Keith,  Same here.  Debbie can look at me and tell if I am enjoying my entree when sweat is beading up on my forehead..Is that crazy or what.  But oh Man I love a great Red Chili.

Hi Anita,  No doubt and I bet they have vendors for those two.

Micahael,  Were seriously considering it.  I would be more engaged than my sweet bride for sure.  I think she would just enjoy the eye popping going on around her.

Juli,  I think we all sufer from that a bit especially as we grow older wiser.  Be prepared with Tums, Pepcid, Prylosec etc.

Hi Joan,  You can bet I will, there has to be some crazy to stuff to share with everyone.

Hi Debb,  That Cajun cooking is fiery hot no doubt! I think anything like that takes some getting used to, the ole stomach needs to acclimate to the new climate.  I think I have that iron gut as well.

Hi Judi,  Long time no see!  Glad you dropped in to say hello and check out the latest events in the Q.  I hope your doing well and business is booming in Seattle.

Sham Man, That is one thing for sure, eating hot and spicy is going to get you in the end...uh Pun intended!  Hot going in is typically hot coming ...well you know.  Yeah, Im not a big fan of the alternative of getting older either.

Hi Al,  An extra comment, wow I am humbled not doubt.  I like when yall gang up on me.  Be well and glad  you could come by.

Ginny,  I think it will be a good event for most.  I think they are little chintzy with the BBQ though.  I want to tear into some brisket, ribs and pulled pork.  This makes me very hungry.

He Linda,  Well said indeed!  Hot sauce and BBQ..what a marriage!

Hi Margie,  Just be careful not to get any on the pretty white wedding dress.  Come on we would love to have you!

Bryan,  I enjoy watching those foods shows when the are having those BBQ contests.  My mouth literally waters watching that stuff.  So you like cooking BBQ?  Maybe we can work something out..LOL

Jerry,  Hey I got to have water to help ease the pain a bit.  Or some other beverage.  Too hot for me!

Hi Rose,  I love Green Chili but I love the Red stuff even more...if cooked correctly!  Carne Adovada smothered in hot red chili is perfection.

Laura,  I know it too be true and I just hope we get to go.

Hope to see you next  year then John

Roy,  I bet you and Dolores would have a hoot or is that hot..Anyway good fun and good food.

Hi Vickie, They have so many versions of everything from spicy relish to blazing hot eggs.  Its all there.

Be Careful at the National Fiery Foods and BBQ Show.  Here is an example of what can and will happen to you if you eat a hot pepper like a habenero and they aren't even that hot according to the Scoville scale.

These things are only rated between 100,000 to 350,000 units.  The hottest pepper the Red Savina hits 580,000 SCU
