Cutie and the Beast - Weeki Wachee Swamp Fest 2012

The Weeki Wachee Swamp Fest 2012 is taking place this weekend at Linda Pedersen Park in Weeki Wachee, Florida.  Lots of visitors enjoyed entertainments, browsing through vendor stalls, and yummy food already. 

The Swamp Monster contest had not yet finished, when this little cutie found her beast!

 Swamp Fest in Weeki Wachee will be open until 5 PM today and be open Sunday March 4th from 9 AM to 4 PM.  Linda Pedersen Park is located half way between Weeki Wachee and Hernando Beach, Florida on Shoal Line Blvd.   Free shuttle rides from remote parking areas.

Looks like fun.  My memories of Weeki Wachee were of the Mermaid Show and I think I remember a glass bottom boat ride.  Is that still there?  I used to try and hold my breath between the times I'd see the mermaids go to their oxygen tubes.  Never made it.

Rene, thanks, it's an annual event and always brings out the crowds!

Leslie, yes, the Mermaid Show is still going strong at the Weeki Wachee State Park.  They do have a boat ride as well but it's not glass bottom.  You would have to go to Silver Springs which is about an hour's drive north for the glass bottom boat rides.  Another fun adventure for sure!

Juli, Weeki Wachee is an Indian name and means "little spring" or "winding river". 

Than, actually, this went on for five minutes or so... she kept sitting in his lap and they had quite a conversation going.
