One of Lancaster County’s favorite sandwich places is Isaac’s Restaurant and Deli.  Started in 1983 by two college friends (Phil Wenger and Issac Williams) this eatery now has 20 locations in 6 counties. They have some very creative sandwiches and soups.  Isaac’s is known for:

-Delicious sandwiches named after birds (their mascot is a pink flamingo). Whether you choose one that’s on French bread, pumpernickel, or a pretzel roll, there really aren’t any bad choices here!

-Great homemade soups – Creamy Pepperjack Tomato is one of the best and available year round. They have other seasonal creations to keep you interested like Sausage and Potato, Chilled Strawberry, and Chicken Corn.Isaacs creamy pepperjack tomato

-A family friendly atmosphere – Brightly decorated, fish tanks, coloring pages and crayons are all part of the experience. Kids meals come with a drink and dessert and the sandwiches are on Rainbow Bread. Kids love that.

-Dessert – Save room for dessert but be warned; if you order the Fudgie Wudgie (brownie, ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and chocolate chips) you’d better have someone to share it with, those things are huge.

Downtown Lancaster Isaac’s, 25 North Queen Street, is a popular one since it has The Pickle Bar (full service bar with appetizer menu) and outdoor seating which is very pleasant in the summer. They have beautiful flowers blooming in planter boxes and a nearby fountain. The lunch crowd is much busier than supper time so head over around 5:00 and enjoy!
