california poppy in Summerland

As we were getting out of the car this morning, to buy an almond croissant at Cafe Luna in Summerland, I spotted this California poppy that had planted itself in the perfect spot, and in perfect juxtaposition with the purple statice, and the black street lamp behind it.  Nature is a luxury, you never know when you will spot something wonderful and worth a photo!

Happy Wednesday, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

Nature is a luxury! I definitely agree with you.

What a lovely photograph. There is beauty in all things!

There's a certain kind of comfort in discovering things of beauty when you least expect it. These are some of the happiest moments of my life!

You defintely have an eye beauty. Case in point - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I love the tissue-paper texture of poppies .. and their bright colors.  I'm also fascinated by the purple staticein this photos. I've seen it frequently in floral bouquets but this is the first time I've seen it in plant form --- and had expected it to be a tall-ish upright plant ---  and not so, not so.

Good morning R & A -

You are up on and working early this morning!  I'm betting you both have a full day ahead.  The California poppies are quiet beautiful and inviting looking.  You get to enjoy poppies and we enjoy blooming cactus :)  Hope you both enjoy a full and productive day my friends.

Ma Nature is so very smart. I wonder how she knew that would be perfect when they all bloomed. Lovely pictures, Alexandra.

Thank you everyone for commenting, we appreciate it.  The California poppy is the California state flower.  It is a wildflower and keep popping up in the most unexpected areas.  This particular part of the planter was covered with mulch and nothing was planted there or planned to be planted there.  I enjoy noticing them in the strangest locations.  When we lived in Napa, we would find them one year in one section of the property, and the next year in a corner far away.  I think the birds are the ones that are propagating them.  They  do sparK my mood.  This particular type of Statice grows tall, but because it was heavy with flowers and had no support, it was flopping and added to the contrast of the colors.

Wishing you all happy moments and many wonderful moments.  Ron and I consider Nature on of our luxuries, as we feel that luxury is something one enjoys, and not necessarily something one buys...A
