Shaking things up...new profile photo

Those of you who have followed this blog for any bit of time probably noticed that I changed my profile photo yesterday afternoon.  I've read others' posts and comments about their profile photos here and there- but I've never been overly concerned about mine as a rule.

I'm not a cute guy or anything- some stuff just can't be helped!  So us lesser-attractive folks must rely on our razor-sharp wit, superior intelligence and wry sense of humor to get us through this crazy world of ours.  We "do what we can" with what we have, I guess.

I was forced into getting some new photos (actually my first "real" or professional photos) this week- as my candidacy for a spot on our Orlando Regional Realtors Association (ORRA)'s Board of Directors has required a few things from us during this campaign journey.  Candidate questionnaires, interviews, etc- and some upcoming "spotlights" that include our answers to some questions...and a picture.

I might ultimately get my tail kicked regardless- but I dang sure couldn't be going up against my fellow candidates with a photo I took myself!  One is a sitting director now, 2 have been Vice Chairmen before, one could "out-smooth" me, one could "out-nice" me, one will surely "out-cute" me and the other could enjoy some benefits from relative anonymity that I won't be able to reap.

Voting runs from September 24th-28th by electronic ballot, and it'll be a tough fight.  I welcome the support of any and all eligible voters, and I'm available to answer any questions folks might wish to throw my way.  One thing I hope to do is be a valued voice for the property management sector on our Board- as we don't really have that presence right now.

If you value property management as a field, and value the "professional" part of "Professional Property Management"...I'm your guy and I can be your voice!

Please visit electdennisburgess.wordpress.com for updates as I continue down the campaign trail!

Dennis - good photo. We are way beyond the belief that only the cutest do well, and we have our lives to prove it. Good luck

Hi, Jon:  Thank you for dropping by, and for your kind words and wishes.  I don't know, though- those cute folks are nice to be around from time to time!

Jon and Dennis:  Heck... I am sure that there are many, many folks out there who consider both of you to be much better looking that just plain "cute."

Dennis:  I just left a comment on another of your posts after I noticed your new profile picture.  I think it's very nice.  Just slightly angled, and with just a hint of a smile.  You look very professional, yet very approachable.  My compliments to your photographer  Good job!

I think we all have issues with our own self-appearance.  We just do the best we can with the talents we have.

Hi, Karen Anne:  Thank you for dropping by- and for your comment and kind words.  I'm probably going to do a "localism" post on my photographer, but I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying it's a guy named Greg Griffith from my BNI group.  I'll have to look at my paperwork again, but I believe he's been doing photography since 1975 or so.  I got the photos done at the very, very last minute- as he had gone off on a wedding shoot and I couldn't get in and see him prior to that.  My deadline to get my photo and responses to a new round of candidate questions into our association was COB Monday, but I got my response in and they let me submit the photo when I'd finished up late Tuesday morning.  Straight from the weekly BNI meeting to the studio, then to my office to get one to those folks.  Seems like I did do well in going with Greg, though...

Dennis:  I think doing a Localism, or Hyper-Local post about your photographer would be a great idea... especially because you already know him.

I am sure he knows a lot of people, and can easily be a great source of referrals for you, just as you can be a source of referrals for him.

Have a great week.
