What's next on your game plan? Once you're unpacked or at least are well on your way, and you're eager for your family and friends to see your new dwelling, it may be time to party. Etiquette says that a housewarming party where people will bring gifts for the new homeowners should be given by a family member or friend, but it's okay to throw your own party too. Just say "no gifts, please" and call it a BBQ or house party.

Moving right along with your plan, after you're somewhat settled in, it's probably time to meet some of your new neighbors. Go outside and mow the lawn, pick up your mail, or work in the flowerbeds, and they may actually come to you. If your dog is friendly, put on a friendly smile and take him for a walk around the neighborhood. Another way to meet local people is to join in on community activities and events. The kids will also want to make new friends, and a good way to do that is for them to sign up for group activities in your new neighborhood.
