This majestic replica of 16th century ships visited the St. Augustine port from Spain to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of Ponce de Leon landing on the shores of Northeast Florida in search of the Fountain of Youth. El Galeon is her name and she set sail back to Spain June 9 after visiting four ports in Florida. For the record, Ponce de Leon landed just south of Ponte Vedra Beach at 30 degrees, 8 minutes north latitude.
