It is happening every day to my business associates and friends. I either get an email ostensibly from them or a Tweet or notice that I have been tagged in a FaceBook post.
The initial knee-jerk reaction is always positive. It’s always nice to interact with people is a personal way. It makes you feel a little bit special.
Then you read the message and it’s obvious that the account has been hacked and the communication is from some lowlife that doesn’t have anything better to do than to interfere with the well-being of others.
And even worse is this:
When you are hacked, somehow it is YOUR fault. You failed to take the necessary steps to protect yourself in an area where scum, dishonestly, and a complete lack of respect for the identity of others is the norm and is to be expected.
It is a dark and unseemly world of cutthroats and ne’er-do-wells.
Hacking extracts a terrible toll is wasted time and embarrassment.
The time for acceptance and tolerance is over.
It is time for action.
