Frisco Texas sports has another feather in its cap. The Frisco Bombers Wrestling Club was founded in 2003. In the past decade the club has produced 10 state champions and several runners-up. They are fortunate to have Coach Rick Dellagatta leading the efforts. 
Coach Dellagatta who is originally from New Jersey and helped coach Seton Hall's wrestling team, is on of several highly respected and talented individuals who work with kids, both male and female, from 2nd grade through 8th grade. Rick is a 2 Time Olympian- Freestyle Wrestling Team Member 1980 and 1984, a 3 Time USA Wrestling National Freestyle Champion and a 3 Time College All American, University of Kentucky.
Wrestling is not offered as an extracurricular activity in Frisco middle schools. The club provides young wrestlers the opportunity to compete and develop. When they reach high school they now have a big advantage as they get ready to compete in higher levels.
The club is which is classified as a non-profit organization us self sufficient. They do not do any fundraising. They do, however, have great relationships with all seven Frisco High Schools, This is very impressive when you consider that there have been at least two other wrestling clubs that in Frisco that started and within a season or two stopped. The Bombers have been the only one that has been sustained.
Wrestling is more than just a physical activity. Here is a sport that truly teaches discipline. Whether you win or lose, there is no one to blame but yourself. This is an individual event that is squarely on the participant's shoulder. When done well, like at the Frisco Bombers Club these disciplines can be applied to life. These kids get a head start on understanding the benefits that discipline can bring throughout their lives.
