Dear Readers -

Craig Daniels from Staten Island, NY is my ActiveRain teacher about all things "web". I have learned so much from him over the years.

After you master this lesson about using Google Maps - check out some others lessons Craig has provided for us on AR:

Hyperlink Shortcuts and 9 other great Blogging Ideas

Create a PDF from a Web Page                 Add Text to Screen Captures

Mistakes to Avoid with Hyperlinks          Add Social Media Icons to Signature

Early in Craig's AR Teachings, he created an entire series for all of us to explore  called How to Use and Edit Video.

Now he has developed his own  Craig's Classroom WordPress site that provides even more lessons! Stop by Craig's WordPress site and see the pages he created  from start to finish - very interesting for sure.

Have a happy day -
Lynn

PS   Just in case I haven’t thanked you personally, I really appreciate every time you stop by to read and/or comment on my posts. L.

Perhaps you've seen my tutorial video on customizing Google Maps. I recorded that back in 2011. Over the past year, Google Maps received a pretty big makeover in how it looks. Just in the past week, one of the last pieces was upgraded. This is the piece where you can create "My Maps". A custom map is the ability for you to draw on a map with boundaries for instance. You can also put in "markers" on places that you want to highlight. This is an awesome feature for real estate bloggers, because you can not only create these custom maps but you can embed them into your posts.

Yesterday, I recorded a quick 7 minute video that gives a whirlwind tour of how to find the things that you were accustomed to in the "classic my maps" interface. I wanted to get this out there ASAP because the new interface may be a bit challenging... until, someone shows you where to look for your tools.

Here's an example of a custom map that I create in the new tutorial

And here is the new tutorial "what's new" video for you to watch
(viewing tip: bottom right of the window below is a full screen mode button)

If you want a little more information to read on what's new and what's possible, here are a couple of references for you:
