Well, we made it. One more year comes to a close, and a new one with new opportunities and ventures begins. I have a closing today and I'm writing one more contract for 2014, but when that's done, it's all done for the year. So, how did it go? What were the highs and lows of your year?
Lows: (not many)
- Multiple family members in the hospital multiple times. That's always a scary scenario, and even though both of my parents are currently in the hospital their spirits are good and they're in good hands.
- The loss of my beloved super-mutt, Walter. Walter was my constant companion over the past year and a half. He was a rescue that graced our home for a short time, and every minute was delightful. I miss him everyday.
- Vehicles challenges. We're slow to change cars because we buy what we like and typically run them forever. Most are older and needed more maintenance than normal. Fortunately, I can do most of it, but I was awfully busy. That meant more trips to the shop than normal, but I'm grateful that I have vehicles and that I can afford to keep them up.
Highs:
- The birth of my first grand-daughter, Amelia Lynn Cooper. She is a doll. Because of the work schedules of my son and daughter-in-law, Amelia spends a lot of time in our office during the week, and we love it. Those who visit the office always want to take a little time to visit with her. She's a very happy baby so it's easy to have her in a work environment without any disruption.
- The addition of Ekaterina Vasilyeva Wood to my Realtor team. She is a very aggressive newbie who doesn't wait for work to come to her. She goes out and finds it. She'll be a local superstar in the years to come.
- The increase in production at the office. I more than doubled my production in 2014, and I plan to repeat that in 2015.
- Our electrical contracting company also more than doubled its workload and production. We picked up numerous great commercial clients, including two major restaruant chains, as well as many new residential clients.
- The completion of projects. I've had a lot of projects hanging because of busyness, but I managed to get a few done this year. I hope to have the remainder done in 2015. Of course there will always be new ones, but the old ones have been like a load of bricks on my back, and it's nice to see them finished.
- The Cornerstone Real Estate School has changed textbooks for the 2015 school year, and I'm very excited to see the outcome. So far, we've had a 100% pass rate. The new material should keep that going strong in 2015.
- Visits from old friends. It's hard to have time to even go out to dinner some weeks, but this year we had old friends who have moved from the area take the time to track us down and it was wonderful.
- Good health. Like most people, I feel the aches and pains of time, but overall, I'm still pretty healthy. I still get to jump on my bicycle and hit the road whenever I have time. I can still exercise at any level I want and don't plan to stop that in 2015. My recent physical was good, and I'm excited for another productive year.
That was most of my highs and lows for 2014. I hope you take a few minutes to look back over your 2014 and see how blessed you are. Have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
