Success Requires Consistency

Success Requires ConsistencyHave you ever had the best intentions and somehow or another things get derailed before they even get started?  You may already be feeling this way if the resolutions you made just a few weeks ago have fallen by the wayside.  You can't help but ask yourself, "How on earth could I have fallen off the wagon so early in the year?"

Falling Off The Wagon

First off, cut yourself some slack.  We have all fallen off the wagon at some point in our careers.  What you want to do is do a quick analysis as to why you feel off the wagon.  Is it because you got busy and went back to your old habits?  Perhaps your goals were so big that you didn't really believe you could achieve them and thought to yourself, "what's the use?"  Or maybe your goals would take you so far out of your comfort zone that you couldn't stand to be that uncomfortable.  Whatever the reason, reassess how you need to modify your goals to grow your real estate business.

 There's No Quick Fix

If you have any level of success as a real estate agent, you know what we should be doing to grow your business.  The tasks are nothing new or sexy...calling past clients, as well as your sphere of influence, writing personal notes and dropping by to say hello.  But we all get a little too comfortable and don't make that shift until we see our business starts decreasing.   By the time we recognize what's happening, we start looking for a quick fix and for real estate agents, there is no quick fix.

You Have To Be Consistent

What you want to do is to commit to the activities, be consistent and trust the process.  It is so easy to be committed in the first week.  You are calling people you may not have spoken with for months...so it's good to reconnect.  But it's around the third week when you have a lot of appointments on your schedule and you get the urge to slack off.  But you can't afford to slack off.  Remember, you have to remain committed to the activities and be consistent.  Research has shown that it takes about six weeks to develop a habit.  Commit to those six weeks and take it one day at a time.

Trust The Process

Every real estate agent has their own rhythm, so you should not compare yourself to the other agents you know.   It's not important for you to try and keep up with what they are doing, they are following their plan and you need to follow your plan.  There are many factors that contribute to becoming a successful real estate agent, but the most important is being consistent in revenue generating activities. If you are consistent there is no way your business won't grow.
