Where is it a good place for a 30 something to live in the greater Los Angeles?
I was asked this question from a family who is considering relocating from Europe to Los Angeles. Interesting question. Usually we get asked where are nice communities that have good school systems? Needless to say the answer is not as clear to the average visitor who is considering relocating to the greater Los Angeles area.
There are many factors that affect the answer. What does a person like? What type of profession one is in. What type of hobbies one enjoys? Where does one work? Needless to say there has to be a priority placed to the above questions. In other words, what is more important to a person. The average Angelino puts a higher value on shorter commute than someone who is not familiar with our traffic gridlocks that day to day commuters might face.
The general trend I have seen in the past 18+ years has been a creation of Local Neighborhoods where people, work, eat, entertain and live.
Los Angeles is not your ordinary urban environment that most people would expect, such as New York City we think of Manhattan. In Boston we think of the Beacon Hill, the Back Bay, the South End, the North End and the Waterfront. Los Angeles has a sixty-mile radius of urban sprawl.
The Los Angeles is full of highly ambitious, urban professionals from all over the Globe. Some are looking for work others have successful careers either in the entertainment industry or in the high tech industry or are with some upstart internet company. Others are working for Google, Facebook, Sony Studios, Warner Brothers or Paramount Studios to name a few. Then there are the ones who are waiting for their opportunity to shine.
There is a joke which is not far from the truth that anyone who is working as a waiter, waitress, bartender or car dealership are all actors. I have known attorneys who were budding musicians, secretaries who are working until the fast track to success meets them.
When I highlight the entertainment industry it is so unique that it allows young professionals not just in acting but in technology, sales and marketing to have careers until their moment in the limelight arrives.
So with that said I will highlight many Los Angeles neighborhoods and communities where many of the young professionals live.
Needless to say this needs to be a series, because we have so many great neighborhoods in Los Angeles. As I will have finished with my posts, I will link them back to this post. For now, just to name them: Venice, Marina Del Rey, Culver City , Playa Vista, Beverly Wood, Mid-Wilshire, Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Downtown Los Angeles.
