There are many benefits to having older friends. They know more about history because they lived it. They offer sound advice because they have ‘been there, done that'. All of my faults do not seem to be a big deal to them. Yes, many of my friends are a little older than I am. Not by my own device. It just happens.
I had a chat with one of my older friends a few days ago. We were discussing the weather. She recently became the owner of a chicken. Yes, that is right. It showed up in her yard one day and never left. We named her and she has been a blessing. My friend told me she had been acting ‘strange' all day. I told her it was probably going to rain.
In fact, it did rain a lot that evening but that is not the point of my story. I said, "I said son, my corns are burning. I think it is going to rain." I followed it up with, "I keep my feathers numbered incase of an emergency." She thought that was hilarious. (My Fog Horn Leg Horn impression is very bad but she is biased). She said we must have watched the same cartoons growing up. She started to describe the rooster with a black head and large white body. I argued that he had a red head and large white body. After debating his true color, or lack there of, my friend said, "We watched the same cartoons but I was watching in black and white. You viewed them in color!"
Ok, maybe you had to be there but it made me laugh very hard. I have been chuckling about it ever since!
For all you single women out there I found a clip that would help you find a mate. I couldn't find the cartoons with my favorite quotes but this is a good one! http://youtube.com/watch?v=5-rlepwvoJ4
