Falcon 9 launch set for Wednesday, May 4, 2016  

at Cape Canaveral AFS

 

  

Rocket launches are part of life in Cocoa Beach and the Space Coast is gearing up for the next one.

A Falcon 9 is set to launch on from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 carrying a communications satellite. 

Liftoff is set for 1:22a.m. with a 2 hour window. We have had beautiful weather this week and hopefully it will continue for the launch.

A night launch is always a special event so bring your camera and get some great pictures for a souvenir.

Hi Diana Zaccaro , I have never seen a launch up close, but was nearby when a space shuttle was launched after dark.  Little did we know they woud not return safely.

It was the Columbia.   The Challenger launch was in the daylight.If it were closer, I would take you up on it, but our meetup is the 3rd and Continuing Ed 4th and 5th.  One of these days I'll be down that way. NAR Conference is in Orlando this year, maybe I'll see you at the meetup there.

Larry Johnston That's right, I wasn't thinking...I was at work when Challenger launched and remember that disaster all too well. I haven't thought about NAR yet, too far ahead, but it's a possibility. Enjoy your meetup tomorrow!
