Labor Day is a tough one, like most Monday holidays. If you haven't been pacing yourself through the weekend, you're in danger of running out of stuff to do, and there's nothing much on TV that's going to get you through the day. So it's a perfect opportunity for you to waste some time immersing yourself in the silliness and irrelevance that is The Grab Bag's content of choice.
We have put together a special Grab Bag for you today, chock full of last week's gleanings from the less-visited nooks and crannies of the InterWeb. But first, a note on links: I know that you guys hate to click on links when you're reading blog posts, and I respect that, kind of. So I wouldn't offer you links unless it was vitally important that you click on them. Trust me on this - there's stuff you really want to see at the end of those links, and you will not be disappointed - The Grab Bag guarantees it!
We good? Okay, here we go!
Success
Y'all love stuff that's full of motivational tips for being more successful, and this is a great one from the New Yorker Magazine - check it out:
Eight Habits of Highly Successful People You Can Try Today
Human Skateboard
I found this one on TwistedSifter - could this be the next big breakout sports trend?
Flour Tortilla Pizza
The Grab Bag rarely does recipes, but the ability to make a tasty pizza in 12 minutes start to finish is a critical life hack, and having tried this one out in The Grab Bag's test kitchen, I can vouch for its excellence:
Dominoes
I dont know why, but I've always been fascinated by crashing dominoes, and this is a wonderful one. There are 81,032 dominoes involved and the theme is Super Mario World.
Radiation
I know we're all very concerned about ionizing radiation, so here's a handy chart that can help you manage your exposure. Click on the image for a larger, more readable version.
Weird Twitter
I saved the best for last. There's only one weird tweet today, but it's a great one - a video cri de coeur from the talented and extremely funny Sara Benincasa (@SaraJBenincasa) - I've watched it a half dozen times and I'm still laughing. Sorry again that it's a link but AR doesn't allow scripted embeds from Twitter (I can't imagine why not).
TV
If you've made it all the way to here and it's still only 10:30, and you're out of stuff to do and unfamiliar with daytime viewing options, here's some TV watching suggestions for today (all times MDT because that's where I live):
11:00 am SAVE Network Parchment Lace Magazine
12:00 pm Cooking Channel Donut Showdown
1:00 pm History Channel Pawn Stars
2:00 pm Sprout Terrific Trucks
3:00 pm CSHP Green Tea Cleanse
4:00 pm MTV Beavis & Butthead
