First, Get the Easy Lay-Ups Out of the Way...
...then you can address the 3-point shots!
I get a lot of questions about my WordPress websites - what to do, which plug-ins to use, which IDX to use and more. The telling question is always, "What do I blog about?"
Perhaps it's the way that I began operating online but, I really feel that having a blog that is hosted by another party is the best way to begin...and to learn. ActiveRain is where I got my start and as a result of The Great Recession, I 'graduated' into building and managing my own Word Press website.
That said, I did a horrible job initially and had to have help to get my website set up, just the way I wanted it. During that process, a group of forward-thinking ActiveRain members formed an 'alliance' and we learned the ins and outs of WordPress and were, after YEARS, able to trouble-shoot and have a complete, working knowledge of the inner- (and outer-) workings of a website.
I recently noted in the Q&A section (have I mentioned, this is a great place for blog fodder?!) - many members only use ActiveRain as their platform. If you're like me and host multiple sites, you'll get it when I say, that may just be THE most time-efficient way to operate online!
Anyway, I digress...
Bill Spear recently wrote an excellent post, sharing ideas for blogging topics. To me, and those who have been doing this for years, this is the lay-up that you need to perfect FIRST! Learn, write and share - it's a recipe that will help you the master of the perfect lay-up!
Remember that in basketball, it's always best to learn the fundamentals (lay-ups included) and in any given game, they're always the surest shots too!
You don't need to address the 3-point shots just yet!
Be patient, learn and get really comfortable with what you're doing here in the Rain - FIRST. Get involved. Participate in the Q&A section and blog about those great topics that Bill Spear shared. You'll be so glad you didn't jump right into WordPress-building - it's quite time-consuming and if your market is anything like mine is, you don't have time to spare!
