Homes on the western side of Danbury often are in demand. Due to the proximity to the New York State Line, highways, shopping & services, this has a created an environment . It is not just all built up. Once you get off Mill Plain Road, Lake Avenue or Backus Avenue, it is typically residential areas with homes generally sited on 1+ acre lots.  Once you are into those neighborhoods, you can't tell you are that close to all the conveniences that you need.

I would generally describe homes in the Western Danbury area to be found in this highlighted map.  It is not just a place here there is shopping and fine dining. The Richter Golf Course is found here which consistently ranks as one of the top rated public golf courses in the country. There are cultural opportunities including the Charles Ives Center.

Anyway, here is some information about housing. You can find anything from pre-revolutionary war up to new construction within the area.  Most homes were built between 1960-1990. Traditional styles are colonials offering about 2500 square feet with four bedrooms & 2.5 baths.  It is not all colonials, there are raised ranches, some contemporaries & capes. & Some homes have been more upgraded over the years than others. The residential neighborhoods include King Street, Aunt Hack, Ridgebury, Miry Brook, Long Ridge, Kenosia,Wooster Heights and Gregory Farms. In addition to single family homes, there are condominium and townhome communities created along the edges, such as Westwood Village, Lake Place, Kensington Woods & Rivington.  Single family homes can run from about $220,000 all the way up to about $1,500,000. The sweet spot for single family home is either around $325,000 or $425,00 to $475,000. The higher valued homes seem to sit on the market longer, and depending on the lower end of housing values, there may be a need for updating & the size of the home may be smaller than you wish. Condos start about $130,000 for a one bedroom unit up to about $700,000 for new construction at Rivington.

All homes are zoned for Danbury public schools. Due to the size of the area, there are different elementary & middle schools districted for students, but students would attend Danbury High School. As a local real estate expert, I am sure that you may have questions about relocating to the area. Please contact me with questions or concerns about real estate in Western Danbury.
