Local Leaping Lizards!
A day that ran into the 70's was perfect for some outdoor activities. In order to feed the imagination of our 3 year old Gbaby Ruger, we set out on an exciting adventure not soon to be forgotten!
The back yard garden is a haven for many creatures that inhabit through the growing season, though it remains dormant until we begin to cultivate the soil once again, readying it for seeds.
All of a sudden, a streak on four legs flits around the corner of an above ground garden bed, hiding in a mere crack between blocks. Left to right, then across the gravel to another hiding spot!
Ruger is running, laughing out loud and entranced by the blur of these little speedsters playing their own game of hide and seek. There's one - two - three and four! His dad finally catches one.
Ruger squealed with delight and wanted to hold it! He was given an education on what they eat, where they live and a lesson on respecting nature. The lizard stayed in his palm for a short while.
Off he went! And so did we in search for more local leaping lizards in southern Utah to learn from. We will see what today brings!
