Halloween Delight in Elizabeth - For the Love of Halloween and More Importantly, Local Rescues - SPCA
One of the Elizabeth community’s most well-known couples, spend months of the year, preparing for Halloween and the presentation of ROSEMONT MANOR. The couple have both always had a passion for geek and pop-culture topics and have combined their talents to put together a show-stopping hallowed evening for all who attend. Their pop-culture passion carries over to their pet names (their other passion - rescuing animals) and in the monikers they’ve given to their massive collection of rescue animals, from the Greyhound they named The Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen to the ball python they named Draco Malfoy.
Meet Kristen Johnson & Jeff Siner. Kristen, with a Ph.D. from Northwestern in communication studies and quantitative statistics, is a global consultant for Amazon Web Services. Jeff is a UNC grad with a background in computer science and is a Wells Fargo operations manager. Both, a far cry from the rumors of them being tied in with the movie or theatre industries! Yes, the production is just that good! One example of their attention to detail is the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine they created out of an old Ford Econoline that is an on-the-mark look-alike. Their large garage doubles as their Halloween workshop - picture them the Mr. & Mrs Claus of Rosemont Manor!
In the months of preparation, how do they divide the labor? According to the Charlotte Observer, “He’s a master woodworker and a solid DIY electrician/IT guy, a problem-solver as handy with a 3D printer as he is with a hammer. She’s a cosplay devotee who is good with textiles and can sew just about anything, has a keen eye for design details, and is just generally bursting with creative energy — in addition to being an extreme extrovert who serves as something of a carnival barker at the foot of their property on Halloween night.”
This is a show that you don’t want to miss! Fifth Street will be closed for the show (blocked off by CMPD. So, find a ‘safe’ place to park and be careful as you step onto the 2100 block of E 5th Street.
