What are the phases to opening up America?

STAY at HOMEThe White House set out three "gating criteria" it said should be met before states should even begin implementing the three phases.

  • Symptoms of COVID-19 as well as symptoms of influenza-like illnesses must decline for 14 days.
  • A downward trajectory of cases within a 14-day period, or a decrease in the percentage of positive tests within that time frame.
  • Hospitals must be treating all patients without crisis care and have a "robust" testing process available for vulnerable workers or  Sustained Leveling or Decreased Trajectory in Hospitalizations Over 14 Days

If all of the above are met, PHASE 1 can begin:

  • Avoid groups of more than 10 people
  • minimize travel if possible, and adhere to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention isolation guidelines if they do need to travel.
  • Employers should encourage telework, close common areas, and minimize travel, though attempt to return to work in phases.
  • Some public venues may open up with "strict social distancing" guidelines
  • Day care and camp would remain closed
  • Visits to senior living facilities would be forbidden.
  • Sit-down restaurants, but not bars, would be permitted to ease into opening.

At least 2-3 weeks after Phase 1 with continued positive outcomes from above gating criteria,

PHASE 2

  • Avoid groups of more than 50 people
  • continue social-distancing techniques
  • Nonessential travel can resume
  • Companies should continue to encourage telework and keep public spaces closed, but nonessential business travel can resume.
  • Some cornerstones of everyday American life, including bars, gyms, and schools, can reopen with physical-distancing protocols.
  • Visits to senior living facilities is still prohibited.

At least 4-6 weeks after a successful Phase 2,

PHASE 3

  • Vulnerable people can ease back into public life, while still taking precautions.
  • People could go back to work
  • Families may visit their loved ones in senior living facilities and hospitals.
  • Large venues such as houses of worship and theaters could resume operations, with physical distancing protocols.
  • More people will be allowed into bars but, still not at full capacity.

Be healthy. Stay safe. STAY HOME.

We too have been extended, and most likely real estate which is not essential in PA will be later than that depending on the metrics they are using for opening things up.

It is nice to see that your governor has a plan unlike our state where the governor has just announced that he might keep our state, stay at home policy for another month even though our numbers look good. This has caused a lot of unrest... (not to mention anxiety)

Happy Friday Debe...

Hi Debe - we are opening back up next week, it seems like it was a waste of time and a lot of money to keep shut down. Our death rates are way down because we don't have any auto accidents . Even with the strange practice of calling all deaths associated with lungs or heart to be attributed to the virus, they are still only at 170. Since we no longer have heart attacks or lung cancer, the overall rate is still down.

Debe here in CT the governor is say it may be the beginning of June, which in my opinion is way beyond what is needed.

Hi Nina Hollander -  I guess that some states are now going by county.  I don't expect Westchester any time soon.

Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS - It is really interesting to see all the different states' orders for COVID. Thank you for sharing those in NC and Mecklenberg.

Your guidelines in Mecklenburg County are similar to what we are experiencing here in Sacramento.  I suspect we will extend the date that stay at home orders remain in place.

I'm anxious to hear how others fare with the easing since we are clearly on the 'late' end of the crisis.

I think we'll have another civil war if they close us down like this again - so many have lost SO much during all of this, Kat Palmiotti

I'm so curious how many will make drastic changes. I, for one, have found some major areas that I can and do plan to change, Michael Jacobs. It's been a great time to reflect upon our lives and professions.

We are essential in NC but, not in my county so, we're stranded in our county - can't leave to sell RE, nor can we show any homes other than TOTALLY vacant ones (no staging allowed). It's insane but, it also is the law and I'm not about to selfishly go against it and infect someone unknowingly, Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543!

We've even had unrest with the additional 9 days our governor gave us. We're hearing in our city that 3 times as many people have died from suicide and overdose because of depression from unemployment here in ONE WEEK compared to the total number of local deaths from COVID-19. That is SO scary and does make you wonder if we did more damage from the course we took to 'flatten the curve.'

I definitely see both sides, Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS.

Sadly, the shut down has caused more issues than ever imagined. I think the plans to keep practicing social distancing, wearing masks and gloves and lots of handwashing could have been observed for a longer period of time.

BUT, I'm not a governor (nor the President) so, I've been following the guidelines to the letter of the law...and will continue to do so until we get out of jail!

Good to hear you're soon to see some easing in TN, Larry Brewer - Benchmark Realty llc
