I want to speak to the Newbies at Active Rain (I'm one too) who aspire to be popular bloggers; well-read, first-page-Google material. How do I know what you might need to hear? Because I have high aspirations for my NH business too, and who doesn't like to be appreciated, here at AR, or in any community, hmmm? A valuable tip in the Newbie guide to Active Rain...**READ before you begin to blog.
By studying TLW (The Lovely Wife), aka, Broker Bryant's wife, aka Billie Tutas or Miss Billie, aka ROAR, wink wink, Kum La Ka La Lakka--whew---I have learned to be quiet and listen for awhile. This Rain Queen may be only 110 lbs soaking wet, but she can teach you what you need to learn here at Active Rain.
Behind her humor and silliness is valuable information about creating tags, developing your own voice, getting your strengths across by using stories, being a team player, teaching/supporting others...this list could go on. TLW shows us how to balance ROAR confidence with being comfortable in your own skin.
Billie Tutas is a popular and well-read blogger because she has earned it. She has years of experience in marketing her business and marketing herself. It may seem simple to develop your own style ("we are down to earth"), be confident in your voice ("ROAR"), and juggle marketing your business while consistently connecting with others around you (she has contributed hundreds more comments than blog entries, have you?). IT'S NOT THAT EASY.
To be well-read by others at AR takes soul searching to find out who you are, what your strengths are, be willing to laugh at yourself (and prove to your customers that you are down to earth like you said you were). Seem simple? Reminds me of watching the Olympic skaters land a triple-lutz, "Aw, it doesn't look that hard." Ha, try it!
After reading thru TLW's Blogs (which anyone can do by clicking on search, then profiles, then enter "lovely wife"), I have learned more about marketing my business than any book or course has taught me. Why? Miss Billie gives us example after example of how to develop your unique voice (and tags). READ and PAY ATTENTION!!
What the Hell is Kum La Ka La Lakka? is a humorous example of Billie's blog marketing. She develops her voice; go ahead and Google Kum La Ka La Lakka...yes, there she is! By being an optimistic, cheerful Broker's sidekick (right arm I'd say!) she embraces the marketing of her Real Estate business while giving to others.
Broker Bryant Tutas + The Loving Wife = Tutus Realty marketing squared.
How does she capture her audience here at AR and in Florida? Read her blogs! Consistency and doing unto others as she would like done unto her. This takes time, energy and experience. ***You can't just log in to Active Rain and expect to earn 10,000 meaningful points overnight. Popular bloggers have put in a lot of WORK to get where they are. Newbies, if you feel insignificant after logging in for the first 50 times, it's not because popular bloggers are intimidating you. It's because you haven't put your time, energy and experience to work here yet. Be patient! If you felt Shut Up...Stop Whining...And Get A Life...LOL...ROAR was aimed at you, maybe it was!
Billie Tutas successfully markets her family's business at AR by using her unique voice, by consistently sharing knowledge and experience, by consistently supporting and encouraging others, by weaving in her personal values (faith and family) and by facing the world with a smile ("SVW, smiling very wide").
Sound easy Newbies?
We will fall on our faces while trying,(yup, done that) but have patience with yourself, practice, tighten your laces and don't give up! Let's land the triple lutz!
What have I learned from TLW? What's MY Kum La Ka La Lakka? Don't Argue with me, or I'll Sue ya!! Don't ARGUE with me, or I'll SUE ya!! Don't argue with me, or I'll sue ya!! "For SEO's sake, make her stop!!" Fries are done...ding! Fries are done...ding! Don't Argue with me, or I'll Sue ya...ding! Kum La Ka La Lakka! ***Read lots of blogs. Learn from bloggers who know the ropes (yeah, the ones with all the points). What we learn here to better ourselves and our businesses is more important than earning points, do you agree?
Thank you Miss Billie Tutas for clearing the path and marking the trail. Come to New Hampshire and visit, wink wink. OK, just one more borrowed ROAR... ok... I'm done.
