Left Hand. . .

Left Hand

Meet Right Hand

It is easy for me to admit that my physical coordination and athletic prowess has never been one of my strengths.  I accept that.  Anything beyond basic exercise can test my fitness agility.

And that’s stretching the limits of basic, mind you.  That said I was thinking about the familiar(well, at least to me)  expression of the left hand knowing what the right hand is doing.

Not in the world of physical adroitness but in the coordination of ideas.  Of purpose.  And intent.  I can assuredly veer off in that aspect as well but I tend to have a bit better control.  Just a bit though.

No finger-pointing especially when it may be self-directed.  No gestures of any kind nor any words necessary.   Just a moment on a Sunday.  Now back to your regularly scheduled pondering. . .

Morning Michael.

About the only thing I play anymore is golf, I'm slowing down on that one.  I suspect I have only part of this season and a little of the next one, if that

Hello James - for however long you continue, I hope it's enjoyable.

Hi Michael - I will readily admit that my hand eye coordination is not good that translated into poor performance in things like softball.  However, I chose something else to excel in--swimming.

Hello Grant - for me, many eye coordination activities seem akin to swatting flies.  🙃

Good morning, Michael... my left hand is pretty useless... I am very right hand oriented. The only thing I can do with my left hand that I can't do with my right is thread a needle... not that I've done that in years. I can't think of anything worse than having to sew something! :)

Hello Nina - so much for excelling in the ambidextrous portion of today's com[petition, right?  I know I am going to take a "pass".

I think it's so amazing that some people can use either left or right hands for different activities. Like ball players who are right handed, but can only pitch or throw a ball with their left hand!

Hello Sheila and Larry - I attempt without much success to utilize the left and right side of my brain whenever possible.  It's definitely a work-in-progress.

Michael, I grew up having a mom that taught piano lessons, so definitely had to know both hands worked.

Hello Sharon - I often think that - especially when I feel the need to smack my head in disbelief.  Slapping myself silly --- perhaps it is too late.

Ha, fun post. I'm struggling to remember if I'm left brain or right brain this morning. Or is that a complete myth?  My daughter is a lefty and I do know her softball coaches loved that trait. Apparently, it's a good thing in sports. I do know she is very coordinated and her right hand compliments her left hand too.

Hello Debb and Bernie - it's a pair I am sure she finds handy.

I Often observe Michael, other hands in the mix so I just don't have to deal with the right and the left. there is always some other power pulling  in the strings (yikes) 🤪

Hi Michael- oh yes, my right hand is the boss. Thank goodness for my piano lessons which helped to get my left hand working a bit better with my right hand. Had to or everyone would have covered their ears.

Hello Kathy - not a secret review - I don't recall knowing of your piano skills.

My right hand has had to pick up some slack since getting injured two years go when I fell in a listing.  (I'm not coordinated either.)  The fall seriously diminished the use of my thumb.  It's better than it was, but it isn't a picnic when a right hand has to go in for a task meant for the left.

Hi Michael,

My husband taught me how to determine left and right on a boat or ship.  There are 4 letters in Port and Left - Port is the left side of the boat.  That makes Starboard the right side... This came in handy with our Hobie Cat.

Hello Sheri - that's a handy way.

Just this morning I was pondering why it is that I'm not like many folks able to walk and chew gum at the same time.  I seem to laser focus on one thing, and then seal everything else out!

Apr 19, 2021 05:23 PM
Michael Jacobs

Hello Myrl - I have never been able to master some gum chewing techniques.  Walking while chewing may be one of my accomplishments but I don't practice it often as I am not much of a gum-chewer.  As for blowing bubbles - no way.  No how.  Not going to happen.  Stepping in a sticky mess on the sidewalk - why can I find always seem to find those?

Hi Michael, I'm pretty good at multi-tasking, I can not use my left hand to write though. My son can write with both hands perfectly with no effort.

Hello Beth - I am amazed at those who can write with both hands and even more impressed with those who can do it well.  Good for him.

Michael, I have always joked that my clumsy left hand serves as nothing but decoration. That being said, my right hand always tries to pay attention to what the lefthand is doing. Literally, and metaphorically!

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

I always wanted to be ambidextrous, Michael! I am VERY left-handed and was quite athletic in my younger years. However, that doesn't mean there was a lot of coordination going on though! LOL

Now I struggle with klutziness but, my left hand still does 95% of everythig I do - besides type!

On another note, my main assistant, who helps me with all of the back-end paperwork and scheduling is on maternity leave. I have been telling everyone that I'm missing my right ARM!

Apr 24, 2021 11:41 PM

Hello Debe - the klutzy factor is one I am well-acquainted with many tales to share of varying levels of embarrassment.  As for assistants and their assitance, it seems many have octopus-like capablilities.
