There's Tons of Business on the Backroads. Have You Been There Lately?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Mike McCann - Broker, Mach1 Realty Farm & Commercial Land Broker-Auctioneer Serving Nebraska

Liz and Bill Spears have a great blog about "Do You Know the Back Roads?"

Read it here: https://activerain.com/droplet/FXKQ

Below the dotted line is my response to them. Their words and many of the responses can be adapted to almost any industry.  Mach1 Realty Backroads of Nebraska Mike McCannThere is a ton of business in them there hills!  Don't stay inside of the box...those who are successful usually are outside the box or re-defining the box.  Re-define your own Box and go for it!!

Liz and Bill....Great analogy!

I have (and always will) traveled the backroads since I was old enough to drive...I know (almost) every road within a 100 mile radius and have put over 60,000 miles on those less traveled country roads in the past 3 years.

That knowledge served me well this year as they resurfaced numerous highways in our area. Flag car and backed up traffic? NO problem...go north 3 miles and turn east and you will come out on the other side of the project...or just drive gravel the whole way. (2nd choice usually won).

I also often travel the dusty backroads of my mind...both for work (oh yeah...there is the turn by the big white barn with the tower next to it)...and also for pleasure...maybe a memory that comes floating back to the forefront as I drive down certain roads.

Or the..."oh...I've meaning to stop and say Hi to Bob and Carolyn...maybe they have the coffee on" kind of thoughts brought to the front by seeing something along the road.

There is so much to see!!

The truth is....there is a ton of business on the backroads....some great people on the backroads....and almost no competition.  And thankfully...very few city agent ego's.

So much to see and business to be had when you don't have to keep looking forward 100% of the time!

Want more business? Get out from behind those ahead of you that are all chasing the same client.  Start hitting the backroads.

Until next time...drive safe!!

Hello Mike - being well-versed in back road awareness can help one get out of a "jam" of many types.  You prove that even a comment can lead into a post.  That's an unexpected benefit learned along the way.

Good morning Mike. Country backroads are a treasure trove of opportunity, even if it is only to clear the mind. Enjoy your backroad journies.

Mike - I hadn't read Bill's post but I will now.  Reminds me of Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken."

Mike I loved Liz and Bill Spear post!  And yours is awesome as well. I am glad that Miss Carol Williams featured it in her Saturday post!  I call the backroads - taking the scenic route of which I do quite often and it's so refreshing. One never know what adventure will pop up that day.  Keep on rolling!

Hi Mike- I love your post as well as Liz and Bill Spear When Larry and I take road trips, I like to get off the main highway to get to see the towns that we're speeding by.  The same could be said for life and business. Taking the road less traveled can open up a new world.
