Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Holiday trees are considered normal yard waste and will be collected on your weekly recycling day (Thursday) for single-family homes and townhomes. There is no deadline for the collection of holiday trees.

Please note these helpful reminders:
  • Place the tree at the curb next to your recycling container by 7 am on Thursday.
  • Holiday trees must be in their natural state.
  • Remove all decorations, including tinsel & angel hair.
  • Be sure there is no metal attached to the tree.
  • Artificial trees will not be recycled.

Please note: Condo residents should follow the holiday tree recycling schedule set by their condo management company.

This is a Kentlands Citizens Assembly announcement.

I hope that all of the trees will be disposed of properly and not lead to fires being started from them.

Good idea to add the instructions for condo owners too Roy. Different rules may be in effect.

Good morning Roy. My tree is back in its box and in storage for next year. My last real tree was just to messy and there was no program for pick-up. Enjoy your day.

Hello Roy - although I remember artificial Christmas trees from my childhood, I do know there were some occasions when we had a real tree.  I also remember, whether it was real or artificial, the tree and its decoration was removed from the house prior to the start of the new year.  Even back then, there were rules to follow for proper disposal.

I just chopped up our tree and put it in our recycle bin yesterday.  It is always a bit of a sad day.

Those are some gorgeous flowers!  I hope you are having a wonderful week.

Roy,

It is a good feeling that the tree will be mulched (in our area) and then become mulch for folks to use in their garden.  A

I think it is wonderful that many communities collect Christmas trees and mulch them.  Much better for the environment.

This is our first year with an artificial tree. I will miss having a real tree, but putting the fake one away will be much easier. I won't miss hauling the dead, dry, shedding needle tree to the dump!
