Networking is much more than a marketing strategy for me.  It is about building relationships and creating spheres of influence.  I have a strategy.  First of all, I always talk about the Business Council of Westchester.

I am also a member of two other chambers of commerce The Stamford Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce.

Then I am also a member of profession and business organization.  These include SHRM, and the local SHRM Chapter and the New York State Restaurant Association.

Each one adds value to my brand.  When I join I look to contribute to the success these organizations.  It has works well for.

I like networking that doesn't feel like everyone is trying to sell me on their business.  I would much rather learn about them and their family than their business, haha.

Hi Grant Schneider -I enjoy networking.

One of the first organizations I joined was the Sedona Chamber of Commerce.  I realized after about a year that I wanted to sell luxury homes. I joined the Sedona Luxury Real Estate Professionals and got a lot of good feedback adding fresh ideas to the group.  The following year I was voted in as President.  This group has been the most beneficial for networking. I have contributed much and learned a lot working with Sedona's very best agents and brokers.

I recently was recruited to be a member affiliated with finding solutions for affordable housing in our area.

Joan - getting to know your colleagues helps.  I have many colleagues who do the same thing.

Hello Grant, I network with a group one a month at a wine networking place and we have 20 to 40 people from other agents to lenders to title people.  Work it and the wine is good!

Grant- it truly is about networking and spheres of influence. When I began in  Delray, I joined the Delray Beach Cof C, was an affiliate with the Realtors Assn of the Palm Beaches and an Affiliate with the local Women's Council of Realtors. I also was in another women's networking group. What I learned was that you have to participate  and establish relationships if you want to get business.

Roy - yes, I am having a productive networking week.

Joan - not all group work but you should have a few.

Paul - yes it is certainly good business.

Will - yes I do that do with a group of restaurant purveyers.  We meet for dinner once a month.

Kathy - yes that is it.  You have to participate not just go to events.  Those who say it doesn't work have not participated.

There is an art to networking and it looks as if you're very successful at it.  I've been to so many, and used to host my own networking group  for 12 years.  I think the key is to be the answer to someone's business need.  Have a 30 second elevator speech as to why you're different.
